SOLD Not so EK9; tama666

Spoon Monoblock:
250mm x 75mm x 148mm
2.6 kg
Piston Size: 40.46 + 36.12

28mm rotor width. mega!
Bigger and thicker ... i can hear the jokes already so I wont start. ;p

If you go this path, rolling fenders are a must with TE37sl's or just leave the fenders off the car.
No other wheel will work to my knowledge without spacers.

I didnt know monoblock works with 28mm width, s2k and ep3 wich use this monoblock are 300mm X 25mm isnt it?

thanks :nice:

For now im using MG disc 282mm X 25mm, but when tarox are near limit i will put two piece rotor, maybe 295mm with 25 or 28mm widht, must see all caliper measures

i know the hats are different from the brembo setup and I need to use 4 lug if that helps.

Ive driven an EG K...LA to SF via highway 1, 400miles. The transmission was cheap feeling, exhaust leak got me high and lost half my brain cells. Not the best experience to be honest.

Lovely car mate!

Bet you can't wait to get the k in there :naughty:

Thanks buddy. Im going to miss the B power plant to be honest and more the transmission im coming to fear. There are a few K transmissions that I know, which have crapped out, time will tell I guess.

Going from B16 to the B18 with the added torque was infectious, I need more! Which is the real reason for the K going in...torque bad for life of transmission...

Everyone is wondering now what the he|| am I doing...I haven't the slightest clue. :p

Wicked updates mate, If the K runs well in the EK, Do you think you'll swap it into the Coupe ?

Or will you stick with the B18 Monster :D

My dream!!

The B is in the coupe for good. Track car #2 will have a K in it tho...;)

Thank you buddy. Mixed feelings about it, willing to give a go tho.

Do you know what cables and shifter box it was running?

One doesn't do it justice; I think I'll have to whip out both thumbs and put them up for this build.

im off to the shop to start the process with RCrew...where is my camera...

tama do you know the max width that monoblock spoon can use?

measuring the gap from pad to pad (with pads on caliper) and the disc gap/track on caliper...do you know what im talking about? its just to have this information in the hand

He was running accord cables? Mine has rsx cables, much better feel, but still not as good as the B transmissions.

It seems I am at, or almost at, max width with the 28mm thick rotors.
If you can see a gap between the disk and pads, you should not be driving a civic, look at porsche equivalent or above. 8P
Wheel fitment was key on my setup, TE37sl 4x100 15x8 +25 [no spacers 8)]

Huge :wow:

It seems very very close the gap disc/caliper.

My wilwoods measure max width 28.7mm, if i use 28mm rotor i can get a gap between disc/caliper each side of 0.35mm...it appears something like you get at this moment

I may be able to get a tad more in there but there really is not a need to do that, having a hard time getting the brakes up to temp as it is...even on track it takes a good 2 laps on a 2 mile to get them nice and warm.

wilwoods just dont speak honda to me, nothing wrong with them at all, just not my style.
Brembo and Spoon are more in the game with honda than any other.

I understand what you're saying, it's personal, money and car use choice.

If i can afford spoon i will buy monoblock like u, instead i preferer the wilwood wich is cheaper and have cheaper pads but we can compare my wilwoods to you´re spoon/brembo.

I like my dynapro/midilite with smaller pistons (38.1mm x 4), with ferodo ds3000 pads and for now with 282x25 discs...in the feature i will swap for 2 piece disc maybe 295x25.4

Yeah Marco, like cigars, its all personal preference. Consumables, pads, are the real deal to be honest. Like Ive said prior, brembos were cheaper calipers but the pads are NOT. Spoons are more expensive calipers and pads less...go figure.

Ive only used the Carbotech XP pad compounds, XP8, XP10 and above. I can not fault them yet...more pad performance than I have talent honestly.

Regarding the floating rotors; lower heat transfer to the hubs/bearings is a big factor with the track cars...not really needed for the street. Again, its all personal preference right? With the larger and thicker rotors you and I use, heat is not as bad as one would get with one piece rotors. Added benefit to the larger/thicker disks is less heat overall, and with the floating rotors even less heat transfer to the hubs and bearings.

For my needs, custom hats were required, more options with them as well...not so much with one piece rotors.

Lastly, brake ducting at my skill level is not needed with the larger rotors...they never over heat...yet! ;)
