Hi Guys,

What's the cause of sludge residue in the water reservoir/tank? I found them sitting on the reservoir. Is this something bad? If is bad, what will happen to my engine? Do i need to rebuild the engine? Please help.

Normally a sign of head gasket failure. How old is the coolant? Try flushing and changing the coolant?

A sign of Head gasket failure? Hmm, the coolant was changed when the engine was overhauled. About 3~4 months since last year. Will flushing and changing the coolant helps?

Does your oil cap have any of this "sludge" on it when you remove it?

When your engine was "overhauled", did you use new head studs, or reuse the old ones?

also, is there a oily looking film ontop of the water in the reservoir?

bear in mind, if its bad and the water/oil are mixing there will be water in the oil, which will cause damage to your engine over time

what do u mean by sludge. what colour is it. and is it on top of the water

color? hmmm...dark brownish color. It's not on top of the water. Its like stain on the inside reservoir wall.

thats normal bud. every car i have seen or worked on has this. its just all the dirty rusty water from the water ways inside the engine. some anti freeze protects your engine from this a little bit but there aint much u can do. just give it a flush out every so often

Hope ya rite about that coz the engine head and the block had been milled b4 and i'm using b16b piston as well. Using ori honda head gasket though.
