Great update! Lots of nice parts!
Will be a massive difference once there all on the car
Cheers man! Yeah, cannot wait to get all the parts fitted and feel the difference.
Christ, was not expecting it all to happen at once lol
Why the new gearbox?
Also have you decided on plans for wheels?
Ha yeah, it took a while to decide what parts to buy! mainly the coilovers as I didn't want the car to be pretty much unusable on the road. But the new teins are meant to be a huge improvement over the old superstreets model.
Originally the car was auto and I had converted it to manual last year. Mainly because the condition of the auto cars were much better, I would save a bit of money even after doing the conversion properly, and it would be a good bit of car experience. Unfortunately the "reputable company" that sold me the gearbox, sold me a heap of crap, and after being messed around by other "reputable skyline companies" with parts and other stuff, it was almost 8 months from when I bought the gearbox to when I actually got the car on the road and actually realised that I had been sold a dud box! So after loosing trust in the skyline companies I bought a brand new one. It now would have been cheaper to have bought a manual in the first place, but I have learned a lot and having a brand new box to drive around with will be pretty sweet.
As for wheels, I had the money ready to go and get some TE37s 18x9.5 front and 18x8.5 rear, but I would of only had change to fit crap tyres like T1Rs or something. So instead I went for Rota GTRs, with AD08s. I have them on now and I've got to say, I am so happy I went for top of the range tyres rather than top of the range wheels. The rays would have been awesome though!
Awesome stuff! Would love all those goodies coming from japan. A skyline is definitely on the bucket list.
Cheers! I have a bit of an addiction to getting parcels delivered and opening them, so this was just insane! Yeah, I think any car enthusiast should own one form of skyline at some point!
I always bring up splitfire coilpacks as an example of why you should take forum "technical advice" with a pinch of salt.
Lots of skyline owners club technical help enquiries about misfires would immediately get the response "you need splitfire coilpacks".
Actually the first thing should be new bloody plugs, correctly gapped.
Very few problems were actually the packs, and only then because they'd done 100k.
Haha, don't worry, I learned my lesson the hard way last year. Being a complete noob to Nissan, forced induction and RWD, I was very naive! The skyline forums are huge compared to here, with a lot of long standing members and unfortunately a lot of misguided advice. I took my car to my local garage whom I have trusted for years, they did everything before coming to the conclusion that I needed new coilpacks. As the gearbox was being built in japan I asked them to advise me on coilpacks and get them to throw them in with the final shipment.
