Hi

i'm thinking of getting some skunk2 tuner series cams for my ek9, would they be ok on the standard engine?

Regards

Its best if you get a decent intake, header and exhaust systerm before you think about cams mate. Also you will need a ecu that can be mapped to get the most out of those cams.

as stated above, you will require a map to adjust to the new cams and headers or the ecu thinks its still the stock parts you are using. about the cams are they stage1? if yes then they will work fine on stock internals

agree with K1ryu..above the stage 1 u need more compression on your engine to get fully utilise on ur camshaft. what ur engine now?

dont get skunk 2 cams they wear out quick. my mate showed me a set that he took out a b16 and the wear was really bad, they had only done 10-15 thousand miles. i had a set in mt b16a2 and i wouldnt recomend them.
there is much better cams out there to buy.

no you will need matching valvetrain as blinx said and a map at least . stage 1 or 2 cams ???

what mods so far u got ???

ehhh, not really, stage 1 cams are genearlly for engines with stock internals for the most part...

Every cam company has had a cam fail, the problem is how do you know if the cam broke on its own or if the engine broke the cam? Impropper installation, improper valve spring pressure, perhaps worn out cam journals giving too much movement, perhaps overtighten cam caps... There is no way to know really...

Iv been looking at the stage 1's, what do you think about the toda killer cams my mate said they are ment to be good.

Beware it dont matter what after market company you go with, the quality of the cam will never be as good as Honda OEM !
