Hi mates ... what I'm about to write might sound a litte crazy for most of you.
I live in Brazil, and my biggest dream is to drive in the ring. I know I could go there, rent a nice car and have fun ... but I want to go with MY EK. It will be pricey, I know, will be complicated, I know, but if it's possible, I want to do it. My car is not a regular car, I built everything on it from ground, literally, so it's a sentimental thing taking him to the ring.
I don't know if any of you guys know the bureaucracy, or at least who should I talk to, in order to get that kind of information. I saw on the web that is possible to get a temporary licence plate for my car in the UK, and I can stay up to six months with it. But my biggest concert is to get my car at the docks, what kind of document do I need to get my car in UK, and send it back to Brazil.

I also don't know what are the best months to go there. I saw that on July a lot of you goes there, It might be a big chance to know some new friends.

Please don't throw me rocks ... all I want is a little help.

Oi, tudo bem?

I lived in Brazil for the last 6 months (Joao Pessoa), i'm back in the UK now.

What's your budget to do this? You must be very rich to even consider it. To be honest, it's a crazy idea. Your best bet is probably to find someone in Brazil that competes in international motorsport (say rallying for example as the cars are used on the roads) and often exports their car abroad to compete, find out the company they use and what needs to be done. I think you'd be hard pressed to even find anyone rallying that would export a car from Brazil to Europe to compete in any sort of motorsport. I guess they need all sorts of special licences.

I also think that the rules in the UK would be no different to Germany with regards to driving a foreign car temporarily.

For the costs involved, it'd work out cheaper to fly to Ireland, buy an EK9 Civic Type-R, drive to Germany, go around the ring and sell it afterwards.

Might it be easier to have your car landed directly in germany/ on the continent. It saves messing around with stupid rules in the uk. Plus its goner cost a fortune no matter what. Few grand each way at least, driving from uk to germany, ferrys, track time, insurance in europe etc. 5 figure sum?

Well shipping from Japan to UK for a EK9 is about £500 and takes 5-6 weeks. UK to USA NY is arround £900 and UK to USA CA is about £1500. Thos is via a standard RoRo (drive on drive off) vessle. If you want it in a container add at least 50%.
Why dont you just fly over, buy a ek9, use it on the ring and ship it back home after? I could point you in the right direction for shipping in the UK.
All the best Dunx

You can't ship one to Brazil. Needs to be 25 years old and they'll charge you around 100% in tax for the pleasure.

I looked into sending VW campers from Brazil, shipping was about £2,000 for a container plus you'd have to line various pockets to speed up the paperwork.

Do any ferry kinda things let you bring your car
As stupid as it sounds
Like do a holiday out of it?
