sell my ek for ep3?

hello all,


this is my ek4 which a few of you should know,

ive been feeling like selling for a while and tbh when i did sell it the replacement was either going to be another jdm dc2 type r or ep3. on another not ive got a nurburgring trip planned with my dad for july and dont want to sell and be left with something thats not upto the task of going to the ring. BUT... a friend of a friend is offering me his ep3 02 plate standard with full service history for £1000!! only thing is mot and tax is due end of the month.

should i see if i can shift mine and get this ? or stick with what i have.

whats your opinions guys?
 
Well worth buying it for that... I'd say you'd have more fun in your current car going around the track thought. A few friends drive ep3's and they are very heavy and a good sir and type r would beat them. No chance you could afford to buy the ep3 without selling yours :D
 
see thats what i thought lol but i would have a wee bit of time to make it more track friendly in time for the trip, i dare say i could scrape it together but would need to sell mine to modify it to how id want it :)
 
Is it uk or jdm type r? I know any mods for them seem to be expensive enough compared to mods for the ek's or tegs
 
uk one mate, will need to have a proper think about it, the ek was going at somepoint either but this sounds ideal...
 
Any chance your mate would let you take a lend of it for a few days to see if you like it or not?
 
For £1000 you cant lose, will you be using it as a daily? Has it had any accident damage?

If you can afford to outlay £1000 at the moment without selling, it seems a no brainer.

I don’t have an EP3, but personally I prefer driving my FN daily, the K-Series is a much easier engine to use day to day…also means when I jump back in the ek its totally wild in comparison.

I would also imagine that the EP will be more comfy than your ek - if that bothers you?
 
If I was in your shoe's, I wouldn't man! You have the Punto to be a comfy car, keep the EK for the toy, or get the DC2. EP's are quite soft until you go mega on them...

Really hope you dont sell the EK, but if you do, out of the options you've listed i would go for the DC2...

a real man would k20 the ek. selling your old bits like engine etc on should free up a fair bit of cash
 
That's not a lot if money at all for an EP3, I'd be cautious there Dean.

My mate is selling his gun metal gray EP3 just now (advert on my FB page) for an FN2 and it's a really nice example for offers around £5000.

Your EK is unique, an EP3 is a great car, but it doesn't give you the same rewards as an EK.
 
We have both EK4 and EP3 here and they are both totally different cars imo.
EP3 is far better for daily use I must say, newer and much more comfortable.

EK4 on the other hand is more brutal and driving mine is much more fun because it's very light.

But to be honest I wouldn't want to miss any of them anymore.
 
Sounds like a no brainier if the ep3 is in good nick, £1000 for a ep3 is very good and as said you could do a k swap into the ek and fund it buy selling your ek engine and buy selling the left over ep3 parts!
 
I have both an ek9 & a jap ep3 & both are very different cars to drive & comfort wise. I wouldnt swap either for the other because i bought both for different reasons. The ek9 as my toy & ep3 as a family wagon & both are suiting their purpose very well. Thats just my 2 cents
 
thanks guys deffo given me alot to think about, hopeing to go see it asap and decided from there.

to answer a coule of the questions,

1, probs will become a daily at somepoint as im still waiting on my company car and the mrs kind of needs the daily now.
2, no accident damage as far as im aware will know more once i see it.
3, yeah it isnt alot of more but i have seen ep's go for it and especially with the very short mot and tax its seems plausable.
4, the extra costs for the k-swap arent there atm tbh so k-swapping is out

will update this once ive been and properly looked over it guys :)

And break the ep3, sell the wheels , interior, bumpers, spoiler etc before you know it your conversions paid for ;)
 
own a ep3 and had fully built b18c teg at same time,the ep3 is a very capable car and with a few bolt ons and a map you see good power gains. mine has an exhaust,and a filter and made 220bhp without a map,if i was you id be buying the ep3 for 1k you cant go wrong ull break it for twice that even if it was hit lol
 
I had an EP3 and the only thing I enjoyed was the engine tbh
It handled well but it just didn't interest me.
One for 1k would surely be a worse example?
 
keep the ek, i was thinking of an ep3 then went and drove a few, and didnt interest me
