Hi all, I've been a retailer on here a while now and not slapped a topic up about my Honda, so I better had!

Bought it completely standard and a bit of a dog to be honest for £3k. tidied it up and after a lto fo time (and money) it's gradually turns into what it is now. It had a new engine about 5k miles ago, and a rebuilt cylinder head with the cams etc.

It's making 218bhp and 150ft/lb currently, and ran a 13.41 quarter mile at 105.5 mph

Here's some pics of it, some bits it had on are now sold (such as the evo wing), and the pics of it on the drive are how it now sits, needing a spoiler and a front lip. It's also had a fair few wheel/exhaust changes in its time haha.

And some from yesterday haha

I have a daily driver Polo now so the teg can really get track focussed, which will start with some angle grinding as soon as I can be arsed lol, Also de-ABS'ing it when I figure out how. And a rebushing, alignment set and an Mfactory 3-4-5 fast gearset with a decent LSD.

I'll update this with some pics and stuff when I do more to it :)

Matt

i'm glad you got rid of the spoiler, didn't suit it at all, although it's looking mean the way it is now! liking the ek9 wheels that colour too :nice:

Ah would you believe you're one of a very small minority who doesn't like that spoiler :) Each to their own though. I agree with you on the EK9 wheels, I loved the colour but was a bit unsure on the shape of them to be honest.

I'm really really hoping to match your 1/4 mile time this weekend coming up! IF i dont i wont be happy haha

Awesome car mate

Some more work yesterday, decided to get a bit hardcore and get the angle grinder out.

Marked up the panels for cutting

And attacked it!

Then I took the dash out, rmoved the passenger airbag, air con evaporator, all SRS wiring, head unit wiring, clock and wiring, anything that wasn't essential basically. Alarm and Immoiliser/central locking also removed.

24385_381037799690_514189690_3559760_8149500_n.jpg

And some of the **** I took out;

I total it's lost a good 15-20kg now just by removing things that didn't need to be there. Need to get some plastic windows and remove the electrics in there, then I can chop the door skins. I also still need to attack the boot skin for some more weight saving :)

Dont let Coogy see this he'll be stripping his DC2!!

It'l make a nice project thread matt, keep up the good work!

I love this car :)

Oh btw, meant to say that noise you thought could have been my transmission bearing must have been the release bearing as the new clutch has shut it up, bit of a relief haha.

Are you going to do another rookie track day sometime? Think you should sort one for us EK9s.

really good thread man everyone wants the jdm teg but the eudm is waaaay nicer. would be afraid to start cutting metal off my car though. good luck with every thing

Cheers fellas. Yes I'm about to post up a track day, keep an eye on the events section :)

Spoiler is amazing, it's different and I havnt seen that before. Really nice teg you got there. All the best with it :nice:

Hi, I've been following Moderne sales on eBay for a while. In good shape, with the
original case, people seem to feel that they're worth $4500 to $7000. However, in the
last 18 months very few have been selling at that price. A lot of them sit for months
going unsold and some don't meet a reserve price and are pulled from sale.
I love them but the market is really odd. Can you say anymore about the one
you're looking at?

it is a sweet teg matt, whats the paint code you used for the green on the wheels?

I don't know, they actually came off an EK9 bought from scotland by a mate of mine. It's a bloody awful finish to be honest, I keep meaning to get them re-done.

absolutely love your car Matt, and all the effort you put into it really does show :D

Look forward to seeing how this develops, but I mean already you've got an amazing car there which is something to be very proud of :) a real track beast!

Yesterday I had quite a day haha. I sold the polo in the morning, then cracked on with the teg from about 10AM.

Don't really have any pictures of it apart unfortunately, but here's what I've done;

- Pressed rear trailing arm bushes into a spare set of arms and fitted the toe/camber arms to them.

- Removed the old RTAs and rear lower control arms, fearing that everything that could snap, would snap. Nothing snapped 8)

- Angle ground the heat shields off the rear hubs (trying to minimize brake fade and unsprung weight) and removed the rear ABS sensors from the car (ECU and loom's already been chopped out anyway)

- Fitted the newly bushed RTAs, disks/calipers etc. Refitted the old LCAs, need to get the bushes pressed into them still.

- De-burred all the metal I'd cut out with a flapper wheel, what an awesome tool. Current TUV standards and MSA regs meant I had to lol

- Hoovered out all the **** from the interior, and started painting it satin black

- Front up in the air, ABS sensors out, coilovers out and swapped the top arms for camber ones.

- Calipers/disks off etc, angle ground the heat shields off the front hubs, and removed the arch liners. Gonna flare the front wings out as well for extra brake cooling.

Finally I though I'd have a laugh and set the camber to full negative and slam the coilovers, show the scene kids what one should look like, you know.

I thought this was a brilliant idea til I had to push it back into the garage. The rear toe must be miles out, it was rediculous lol.

Gotta say thanks to Andy at Tuning Factory, did me a great deal on the full bushing and camber/toe arm setup, and I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone. They are the RS (Race Series) bushes/arms, and they are EXACTLY the same as hardrace, the boots on the ball joints even say hard race :)

Need to get the bushes pressed into the lower control arms next, and get them fitted. Got a proportion valve and all the engine bay lines from a non-ABS 96 spec so we'll see what I can use from there.

Been a pretty god damn expensive weekend for me.

A mate went and fetched some wheels for me, team dynamics pro race 1s with avon slicks. Couldn't pass them up for the price, gonna give them a try at the curburough track day and see what the crack is :D

Then I kinda went a bit nuts. They think they're so clever with their custom made dashes. 5 minutes and an angle grinder gave me this lol

Ripped the heater matrix and fan out too.

Also took the head off and sold it. So the car's looking pretty damn sorry for itself. But it did let me afford some nice bits, so off to R-Motion in south wales, and I picked up a carbon rear tailgate with perspex window, and a MSA approved cage. Queue a seemingly fruitless attempt to fit it all in the back of a scenic. Managed it in the end thank christ.

Hour or so later, dash out again, seats out, some careful maneuvering and swearing later, cage was placed in and boot fitted. Boot is crazy light compared to stock, it flies open soon as you flick the catch lol. Gumshield needed perhaps

Still to do;

Make up front brake lines
Rebush lower arms
Get cage welded in, then finish painting interior. Paint cage white for now ;)
Source and fit standard cylinder head and cams etc
Then once its on the road get the alignment set and hopefully get it mapped too.

A lot to be done still, but shouldn't take longer then a weekend to once the bushes are pressed in and the cage is welded. This will get to to fast road/track car spec, there are still a few more things it needs to make it MSA approved, fire extinguisher, cut offs etc but these can wait til winter.

Matt

beautiful car mate, what pistons / compression are you running ? :nerv:
