S2000 f20 engine in a 9, what would be needed

I say go for it, driveshafts won't be a huge problem as there's plenty of companies that do custom ones. The front sub-frame may be an issue though. I'd cut a rotten ej9 to bits first to see what needs done transmission tunnel wise before attempting it on an ek9.

I saw a video on YouTube of a rwd sr20det ek if that's an easier swap

Personally wouldn't ruin an ek9, would just start with a poverty spec ek

Good idea, maybe I should sell my 9 and start this build. Need to start doing a bit more research before I take the plunge lol. Just want something different you seen 1 k swop you have basically seen them all, same as b18c and so forth.

Be a mad project but as stated its going to be a costly one, but if i do most of the labour my self then that would keep costs down.

I've got a S2000 shell (with some crash damage) lying around with all rear sub-frame/rear diff still fitted and the gearbox also - you've got no excuse not to start now :p

sw a well mintit photo of a f20 dc2 n wiid be a well guud idea evn tho cost 25gees b well sick

...more along the lines of can you get a EK9 body to fit onto the s2k layout...much easier path.

Iv got an ej9 shell you can have for free if ur wanting to cut it to peices pick it up and its yours

Maybe try find the people who build this and contact them

I think if you have to ask what would be needed for an F20c conversion, it will be beyond your abilities to do it, no offense meant.

Here's the build info up to the point where the shell was sold for £1600 on eBay:

Looked at doing this to a dc2, read somewhere about using the standard rear suspension arms and fittnig crv rear hub bearings, but doing the conversion would cost a fortune and the car would need to be jigged to get everything
to line up.

Dont think it would handle as well so would just be for show(bragging rights) :)

Cheers

Fml just read the whole thread, and I can kinda see what you mean, maybe the 2k conversation is easier to the extent off cutting his chassis legs up ect. Very good idea using the fire wall and tunnel off the Nissan.

So very handy info there nice find.

I spoke about something similar to my friend who is a (very good) car mechanic when I was asking him what would be involved in creating an EK9 WRC (turbo charged 1.6l 4WD...) He said he would not attempt anything like that despite the fact that he has his own garage, all the equipment and employes people who could pull it off. The reason he said was not that he would be unable to do it, but it would A) cost way too much B) building it is one thing, but making it actually work WELL is another. I can totally see where are you coming from and I would LOVE to do something as crazy, but unless you have won a lottery and have the budget and time to do it then I would say forget it. It may turn into a (very) expensive exercise.

There are more worthwhile projects out there with off-the-shelf items such as B series Classic Mini's, F20c MK1/2 Escorts and Hyabusa Smartcars which will be funner than a F20c EK9.

One that has caught my eye at the moment is a Toyota MR2 MK1 with the MK2 engine or even a V6 from the Camry.

Why not FWD with the F20C? Not common, goes super well, and avoid the unnecessary complication of shifting the driveline.

Very good point, thanks for sharing! after reading the eg build, I was kind of thinking the same thing. There must have been a reason he sold the shell, He done all the hard bits. I think I'm going to have to wait to win the lotto or become rich lol. Would be a awesome to build one though.
