hey, i was just wonderin about these remote starters, how much would one go for and are they hard to install ect, and the big one is it worth it!
any feedback would be great:D

I dont know about remote starters on manual transmission, since it would jump if you leave it on 1st gear when parked. But they are a bit pricey.

not that expensive they come with alarm on ebay for around 30-40 quid but was told by my mate it will damaage your starter or something like that.

I have a Clifford G5 on my car with remote start, ive used it everyday for a year & have had no problem yet, im not saying that they dont cause problems just ive had none as yet. Is there a difference in how it starts your car? I would of thought it was the same apart from you dont have to put your key in the ignition.

i dont know much about it was just told by my mate it will ruin ur started but i wanna get one fitted anyways when i buy a new alarm.

Mine has remote start but i disconnected it, didn't want to accidentally hit the button while in gear!! The car will try and start itself 3 times which means if in gear it will launch forward 3 times!!!

lol u guys are funny i heard the NEW remote start alarms won't engage if your cars in gear...and i wnt mess up ur starter...its just like hooking up a push button ignition ...no big deal!

Some remote starts like clifford work on a max duty time (seconds) and RPM input to automatically cut the starter. Cheap sstems like ebay just work on a timer, which in the long run can put excessive wear on your starters mechanism.

As for starting in gear, good systems will prevent you. Like clifford for example

The cheap ebay systems that keep cranking the starter can cause damage to it. The clifford set up is programed by the installer with a lap top. This one you can set how long you need the starter to turn for. You can set how long you want the car to run for. It comes with the option for manuel gear box so you cant start it in gear and have it drive off.

I have had a G5 Con650 on my car with remote start and total closure windows for 5 years now. Never had any problems with it.

They dont affect your cat 1 for your insurance as even when the car is running in remote start the alarm is still activated. If some one was to break the window to get it the alarm would sound and the car would shut off. Even if you manage to get in with out setting off the alarm as soon as the car goes above 1500rpm or you touch the brake pedel or handbrake the car alarm would sound.

YOu have to disarm it get in put the key in the ignition turn to on position then touch the brake to take it out of remote start.

Hope this helps for all you are looking for one.

I have a Clifford G5 alarm with remote start on my EK9 and its great! No problems at all. ace alarm and great kit! dont buy an alarm of ebay, save money and buy a good one!

ive also got a clifford consept mark2 it has the remote start option on the fob but would of cost me xtra to get it plumbed in and personally dont see a massive gain in having it :) i thnk it cost me 290 fitted summing like that

Depends on the shop installing the alarm. A Clifford Concept 650 can run anywhere from 300 to 350 installed. Then with the remote start it will be another 150ish on top. If you get it done at the same time as the alarm you could get it cheaper at most places as they are in there doing it allready.

I spent an absolute fortune on my Clifford alarm with window closure and remote start.

To be honest, I don't use the remote start. It's cool to have, but if your tight on money its not worth the hassle.

The Clifford one has a check system which wont let you remote start the car whilst in gear. :nice:

I have autopage it works fine even after a yr.. don't leave it in gear!

i had a clifford G5 on my ek9 about 2 years ago, good at central locking but thats about it. the car was stolen from outside my door without a noise. if they want your car there is not much an alarm can do. after all, it's their job!

i'm now on my second ek9 and this time i've installed a clifford 650i (?) with all the extras i could get. still not confident with it though! but maybe it will at least make a noise this time.
