My friends just had a B18c4 bottom end with a b16a2 head remapped at henry roy the other day and wasnt to happy with the figures he got.

The spec was

b18c4 bottom end
b16a2 head
integra b18c cams
skunk2 inlet
aem induction short ram
dcsports exhaust mani with decat and fustisubo cat back
lightend flywheel.

first run with the b16a2 ecu it made 167 bhp 121ft/lbs
with it mapped on p28 it made 172bhp 130ft/lbs

fueling was all over the place mainly in vtec but that was sorted.

the post isnt saying henry roy isnt a good tuner we are just trying to figure out why the numbers are low as he estimated near 200bhp also and was surprised. cam timing and ign timing was also spot on.

its like it can draw enough air in or let enough out, could valve float be the problem?

Any suggestions would be good

cheers aidan

not a clue mate, nut it will be lower than a b18c4 i think. could this be a problem?

Ive seen this combination make 190 odd hp before ! Somethings up somewhere

yup thats what we thought. any ideas barry? my mistake its actually a 5zigen exhuast. my first suggestion is to use a stock itr airbox

Surely it cant be valve float, that would only occur at mega high rpms

Although what valve springs have been used with the teg cams?

just the b16a2 valves. power doesnt rise after 7000 rpm

Id maybe even try a stock b16a2 inlet manifold and throttle body

Post the graphs up and maybe a few tuners on here can have a look at it

Also has it been compression tested now that its built?

its a b16a2 tb on the mani. will get the graphs up tomoro if poss. so frustrating

Barryl85 ... BHP or WHP?

This would be be about 190whp-200whp, these are OEM ITR levels for HP and Tq.
Also, 10.3 compressions sounds correct to me for that setup.

Get a proper CAI, short ram not so good for HP, go long.
I would look at the DC header as well...both the intake and header are key to power gains, they work together in other words, they should compliment each other.

sorry for thread hijack

would valve float cause power to be down? have the same problem got low figures for my b16, car had a high rev limit for a while

its bhp it is measured in . im not a fan of the dcsports mani but people say the work and a airbox will be next i think with cai .

standard aem short ram , its a friends car so cant go measure. he has used the b16a2 tb with the skunk inlet would this make a difference?

Diameter of the intake piping is important as well as the length of it. [3" dia]
Skunk2 intake manifold is much like the ITR OEM manifold, you may want to try B16 intake to see if that is it.

Guy i used to know had this combo and it made like 193bhp or somethin not wheel horse power - if i had to guess wheel horsepower around 165whp.

Putting the b18c4 head back on would probably help, what he has built with that combo is a lower than standard compression c4!

skunk 2 do a manifold to do away with the dual runner c4 manifold.
