hey guys,

i recently started buyin parts for my forged b20 vtec,

i bought a set of weisco pistons, they are quite high comp 14:1 afaik.

my intentions were to run the engine on bioethanol,

but as of january the 11th the irish government are not supporting the production

of this fuel anymore and maxol.ie are ceasing in ireland.

now does anyone have any idea on what pistions to use safely on pump gas.

id be looking at about 12:1 comp but unsure of any brands...

rs machines do a "rep" itr 84mm piston but specs seem sketchy

the rep ITR pistons are very popular in america, or so says nwp etc aha.

im assuming that since you wernt going to use pump fuel this was gonna be a race car?

no it was gonna be im daily driver/drag car,

it was do-able to drive it in dublin but now no more bio means im shafted...

i dont wanna have excess comp in my motor i cant use, wouldnt be ideal at all

Have you bought cams? or what cams do you intend to run as this will be a big contributing factor as to what compression you should build your engine to be.

the intention was to run in the engine on stock Ctr cams and change over to a stage2 after, more then likely skunk2 pro or toda spec b

12.5:1 will be enough for either of those cams running on 95octane fuel.

heres a question for ya, martin tracey machined my block, he said all he did was a simple hone and required the weisco pistons for honing it, would i be wrong to use a different brand/model piston after the machining? 84mm pistons

We stock B20 Cosworth pistons;) nominal 12.5:1

Give me a PM.

will do mate

Its not likely it would cause any issues but would be wise to measure the pistons in comparison to the Wiseco pistons as they can all differ a little even between different batches of same piston.
