Just looking for pics of EK9's (preferably in C/W) with race number decals on the door. Even better, with the box for numbers, but without actual numbers (since you're not allowed numbers on the road).

I remember seeing a video someone posted with a DC2 & an EK9 and the EK9 on that had the box for the numbers but no numbers in it. Have had a search here and on google but no joy..

There is a lassie from up here numbers on her doors, her name is Rainy. there may well be pics on here.

its very marmite IMO

I know, if only I could find that vid that was posted that I saw them on! Thought they looked amazing, even on a car with very few other decals.

Will have a look for pics of Rainy's car..

ehhh im trying to think of where there is pics, maybe from the first EK9 scottish meet but not sure if she was stickered up by then

It looks good if it's got other graphics to compliment it!

Whats the consequences if caught with numbers on your car on the road? lol

Not sure what the penalty is for having numbers on the road, but with the police round here, I don't want to find out!!

aye thats the one max, Im personally not a big fan of it but i know alot of people are into it

Yeah, I think I like it (have never really seen it properly, always been difficult to judge from the pics I have seen) but really need to see some better pictures before I make my mind up!

Would be mega cool if the Number squares were actually used!

Seems to be a bit of a grey area with the police I have heard of the MSA scrutinisers taking a dim view of people driving to race meetings with numbers on display but as your not racing competatively should not be an issue not really sure about police.

Has anyone never seen a fiat 500 or a beelte stickered up like herbie driving around?? If they are sold from the factory like that could they be illegal?

Best thing would be to send an email to local police (if possible) to get clarification on this issue I have seen people do it when looking into the legality of harnesses and seen the response below on another forum:

Dear ****,

Thank you for your email, which has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

I forwarded your question to our Road Policing department, which has confirmed that door numbers are not illegal. Window numbers would only be illegal if the driver's forward or side vision was impaired.

I trust this will be of some assistance to you. If you have any questions about the above or I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me again.

Kind regards,

I would't take that as gospel as ive just copied it from the internet and its not local to you but i't gives you an idea. If you could get a copy directly of something like this it might take the wind out of any over eager traffic cops sails and demonstrates you are trying to abide by the law.

Sorry I dont have any more pictures of EK9's to add but if you fancy it should give it a go Rainys EK9 might not be to everones taste but it stands out from the crowd and if your after a track look with your cage and all it certainly scream's intention to me :nice:

Because we live in a country where you're incessantly told what you can and what you can't do, and what you should do, whether it's for you own good, anyone else's or not.

No doubt some moaning f*ck came up with a reason for it somewhere along the way, and in order to keep the power, the rule was implemented.

Taken from MSA Blue book 2010:
Section: Competitors: Vehicles (J)
Competition Numbers [Chart 4]

4.1.7. Any means of identifying individual cars during a
competition MUST be removed at the finish of the
event.

No reason given as to why I had hoped they might explain a legal position.

I will do more research into the legal issues as for most of us the MSA rules are not important.
