Opinions of EBC pads

Im using EBC disks and OEM pads at the minute, done a track day on them and they felt superb

sounds good to me, i can afford that nicely

ben anderson - yeah that is quite true im not going to be going fast alot etc etc
im not going to track it alot.. but im going to nurburgring in june with a bunch of my mates (i hope) im obv not going to be thrashing as ive never been before but i will want better than standard + i need new pads or discs anyway so why not upgrade them a bit anyway

I heard nasty story **** about EBC pads. Pads that make your discs warp, pads from which pieces just brake off etc. I'd stay away from it; enough alternatives available to not take the risk.

I understand that the pads are pretty sh1t now lol

so what are peoples opinions on there grooved discs?

Just as ****:nice: You wont gain a thing from using them....

In all honesty with a 1.4 underneath you, OEM brakes will more than be up to to the job...you wont be that hard on the stoppers at the Ring because you wont be pulling silly speeds anywhere & especially with it being your first time....trust me

Best off using the money you save on aftermarket pads/discs to give your calipers a good clean & change the brake fluid to castrol response & fit some nice OEM discs/pads

Job done!

speaking sense aswell man
cheers :nice:

I would NOT take OEM pads to the track. Sure, the OEM rotor, calipers, and fluid will do the job, but do not take OEM pads to the track and think you'll be fine.
I have faded OEM pads on the street in back road driving, with a stock EG8. It doesn't matter that your motor is not as powerful as a B-series, if you're repeatedly braking from speed you're going to max out OEM pads quickly.
So go with a higher rated pad at least, there are plenty of good pads that can be used for dual duty driving. Hawk HP Plus for example.

Here ya go mat

Fedro DS

Ferodo / DS Performance Pads (Front) 'Street' / Honda Civic 1.4i,16V EJ9 01/98>02/01 / Euro Performance Car Parts

or

Brembo pads

Brembo / Performance Brake Pads (Front) / Civic 3/4 door 1.4i 16V (EJ9) ; 96-97 / Euro Performance Car Parts

Both under a Ton and will give you better Bite wit less Fade.

And brembo discs for £116

Brembo / MAX Discs (Front) / Honda Civic 3/4 door 1.4i 16V (EJ9) From: 1/1996> 12/1997 / Euro Performance Car Parts

So thats your pads and discs for under 200 then add pennys for fluid and like Dino said give ya calipers a good clean and put the pads and discs on yourself mate to save cash you need a few tools though to do it right so dont try unless ya confident.

On a final note i abuse my brakes and can cook OEM ones like and egg on ya bonnet in summer and EBC allways did me proud never cracked a disk and pads bit like a pitbull.

But then hey i never done a trackday on them so its a different ballgame to street.

cheers ben

this is what i need lol
funkypower is good for some stuff. just not all :nice:

I use EBC discs and pads for track and street, never had a problem. And belive me, here where I live is hot.

I've ebc discs and I've use greenstuff before, but on redstuff right now
Greenstuff is very dusty, but if you are looking for a pad for daily normal driveit is the one to go for.
Redstuff are not so great when cold, BUT when you have heated them a bit, its very good! Having used mintex before, although it was good, I prefer the redstuff, as you can brake as much as you want from high speed ( 140km/h and up and you still get the same bite.

Those who are saying that EBC is not good, is it from personal experience or just hearsay???

ive decided to get frodo pads and run them on standard discs. i think this will give me everything i need. as when i do go to nur this time i believe i will not be thrashing it coz ts my first time. it will not be till i get a vti\sir or ek9 that i will start to go for it on tracks if i do :nice:
