Oil temps on my engine?

Leaving your car to warm up on idle constantly is doing damage. You should just get in and drive it really.

If you leave it idling all the time to warm up then the rings will be always just skiming the bores as they have no pressure to force them open against the bores. Will make the bores and rings have hot points from constantly running on their spring tension instead an even pressure from normal engine loads as they should be. In the long run ill cause your bores to glaze and rings to loose their seal. Plus more oil burning.

Not the most versed on oil temps as I have never ran a particularly accurate gauge.

Where are you taking the temps from? Mines at 52°c in the sump on normal driving.

usually get between 60-70°c driving about town in this season, and thats getting stuck in traffic but obviously higher when am on motorway, and thats taking from the sump plug. Seriously! nothing to worry about mate.

Still burns a bit of oil anyway. I am hoping by just getting in and driving will sort it out.... Probably not. I don't warm up any other vehicle used to do it a lot with the bike (especially when I had a 2 stroke) but I start my r1 put helmet and gloves on and go. Will do this with the 9 now. Start it put belts on and go!

Wow these temps are very low!

Ok.
Those temps are very similar to mine, there's always going to be variations as you have a custom built engine.

Precisely, this thread was about starting/warming up and wether I was doing harm with low oil temps during winter.

^^:nice:
Oil pressure is way more important to watch, just sayn

Driving my dad's DC2 over the weekend, It has a GREDDY Cooler and gauges, Usually sat between 75-80 over the whole weekend which I never saw a problem with then rose to say 90 after some VTEC abuse, However I used the tell tail for the first time in a while and it read near 115! Dad must have been putting the thing to use!

OP, I would say your temps are fine :nice:
