would an oem oil pump be fine on a turbod set up at about 500bhp or would i need to find a uprated one?

cheers

It would be best to uprate the oil pump and oil gallerys for that sort of power really. What bearings have you used ? Have you had them drilled ?

I'v heard of a few people running stock pump Vtec6000 with quite high figuers. But dont you think it would be a good idea to uprate it at this stage if he going to change it anyway for extra protection ?

If it was me i would uprate the pump, gallerys and get the bearings drilled for that extra protection.

Is this engine still apart ? and what are your main and rod bearing clearences with those bearings ?

Endyn does them, Check out his site and email him, ask him what he thinks of making your setup reliable whilst your at it. He may or may not give you the advice i have. I would listen to him though as he knows his stuff.

Let us know what he says.

The type r oil pumps are efficient enough and it's very rare to see one fail so I would just stick with that. As you say and so have I seen higher bhp cars using stock pump with no issues.

Yeah let us know. I'm not a fan of acl bearings in a honda but some people love them.

OEM oil pump is fine, i also have acl bearings w no problem, 9000rpm all day long :)

Hey Blinx, what valve springs are you running in your car ?

Wow ! i didnt think stock valvetrain could handle that sort of beating. I'v rev'd over 9000 before on a NA B16B but on a setup like yours i would be to scared :nerv: . It just shows how much stock internals can actually handle and how good the quality of OEM parts are.

How many miles have you run up on her now Blinx ? and out of intrest what afr's did your tuner set it to for full throttle ?

11.8-12.2 are my AFR's, keep in mind i have 8.3:1 compression so i can run it pretty lean, i have about 3500 miles on the engine now, i don't drive it too much, but when i do, i drive it like i stole it!!!!! I typically shift at 8500rpm, when you have a good size turbo, you don't have the urge to rev so high anymore because the turbo does flatten out a tiny bit especially with my stock b16b cams and stock ports.

Is that on 93 octane fuel ? I was thinking that your afr's were going to be in the 11.5 range been that you have used stock internals to be honest. But i guess as you c/r is that low a little leaner wont hurt.

Lol at you drive it like you have stole it ! My mate said that to me the once when i spun out on a island. Luckly i didnt hit the kerp or a lampost.

Your car sounds like its a right load of fun. I still carnt believe how much power your pushing through stock internals lol. You must be running one of the highest power stock internal engines around.

91 octane, i actually have the 11nth highest hp stock block, i was 8th at one point but they didn't include me on the list since i use pr4 pistons, everyone on this list has 100% headgasket down stock block:

Highest stock block WHP B16.
1. Randys 630whp and 390tq on 118. (10.97@131)
2. C squared motorsports 511whp GSR head/GSR tranny....(10.84@134)
3. Jockobo 407.1whp 287.3 GSRhead B16 bottom E85 (10.7@131mph)
4. mike@synapse motorsport 405who 270tq GT3076r VP12 race gas
5. redline130 393 whp 261 ftlbs, C16 (11.65 @ 125mph)
6. SLS_Mike 378 whp 258 tq, 14 psi, 57 trim
7. popnvtec 375 whp E85 GT35R
8. marques4130 350 whp sunoco 112 best (11.8 @ 119 @ 4200 ft)
9. 98gsrTEG 344whp@1 bar on pump gas
10. Black SI 344whp on a stock b16 @14psi

That's is crazy blinx  630whp on a bone stock b16. How the f*ck did that engine manage that.....

Are these guys all on honda tech ?

I mite have to have a look into these as i would love to see the turbo setup's they have.

yup again OEM is fine. I played with mine though. @ 900rpm idle I'm at 2.0 something bar. 8.4+- bar max on high rpm. I don't know if that should help in terms of longetivity, I'm not yet turbo.
