Alright...I want an exhaust that is not so loud anymore but does give a nice tone. Twin loop is a good option, but the Mugen is quite expensive here in Holland and also outside Holland. I have a Megan Racing Drift Spec (with decat) now. Sounds nice without silencer but terribly loud. Sounds utterly SHITE with silencer and still is too loud. Pic:

So I did some research and discovered there are many replica's, but only one of them has received such a lot of praise and that's the OBX Twin Loop replica. And I even found a movie of a guy on YT, comparing old, no muffler and OBX TL sound and he also measured decibels. Conclusion: dependent on RPM, the OBX takes away 18-20 decibels, with only the muffler replaced. It also sounds a lot nicer:

YouTube - civic new twin loop, BEFORE during and after video instal
If you think it's shite, then listen to the whole video; the OBX sound is later on in the movie

Another big advantage is that the inlet is a bit bigger than Mugen. 2,5" is available and for the turbo peepz here, it's also available in 3". Craftsmanship also looks very good! I like the looks better. There are replica's with a 4" tip and other overdone ****. This one is 3" without the rings at the tip and I think that looks better than with rings. It even comes with lifetime warranty. And the best part of it, it's friggin cheap, because there's no "Moogen" badge on it :D

So, I received it 2 days ago and made some pictures:

I'm gonna pair it up with a Invidia GT200 midpipe, which also seems to have significant muffler in the line. I'm gonna get it welded. In Germany that is, in Holland it costs between 200 and 300 euro's  :nono:  In Germany it should be around 120 euro's.

I'll keep you updated with the progress! I'll make pics and movies with sound when it's installed!

Nice. I know alot of the guys in the states speak highly of these. The xforce twin loop is sappost to be really good too.

Look forward to seeing some pics and vids when fitted:nice:

Yeah, but I believe the XForce is way more expensive :) I payed 150 bucks for this including shipping.

Tell me about it. I got a quote on the xforce system a few weeks back, and for the price of them, you may aswell get the mugen lol. Having said that, Ive heard they flow alot better than the mugen due to their straight through design:)

150 usd delivered is very good. OBX don't do a cat back twin loop system do they?...They only do the cat back with the n1 style back box?

I dunno. But you could always get an ultra cheap ss catback, a OBX TL and weld that on the place of the original muffler.

I haven't seen an obx in real life but knew it was always cheap from eBay.

The pics and specs looks good. Better than mugen? Yes, anything bigger than 2.36" inlet And outlet is.

Nice option for u Tim!

JT: if you want nice sound, spend the extra on a high flow cat. Resonators only reduce And tunes out the note deeper. High flow cat will get rid of the high pitched farting. I know it's expensive but hey it's like that with audio speakers too, you gotta pay for it

What does the Megan sound like with the bung in? is it just pure loud rasp? Because i`d be tempted to buy it off you if you were prepared to sell it as i have the Drift Spec too and its getting a touch loud now especially as my car is stripped out. Theres just a 1000rpm`s worth of nastyness at about 2500-3500 which annoys me as you can always hear it from pulling away and accelerating.

Yeah, you're right. But guess what I've bought second hand for 72 bucks inc shipping a few weeks ago :D OBX high flow cat :p I'm gonna try it without the high flow cat first. A touch of raspiness ain't that bad. The sound I'm looking for is deep and rich with a touch of raspiness possibly, but not that much of course. If I don't like it, I'll put the high flow cat under my car. If it's still too loud, then I'll put the high flow cat under the car too. But it shouldn't get too quiet either :p

Pure loud nasty rasp, you can even hear it pushing masses of air through the small tip of the silencer. Really a fartcan sound. Ugly imho :p I've probably already sold the catback, so the silencer is not available :( But you can get them off Ebay pretty cheap! 10cm diameter right? That's pretty much a universal measure for silencers. One positive thing, performance doesn't go that much down with a silencer in. I tested it with a G-Tech Pro RR. With the silencer I reached 0-100 km/h in 7.7, without 7.5. And top speed is about 4 real GPS km/h lower with the silencer in (211 GPS km/h without silencer, 207 with silencer).

But, as Jugbugz said, high flow cat is a good option to take away some sound, if you don't want to touch your catback. OBX has them pretty cheap, 175 dollars inc shipping new. I'm getting one and I'm certainly gonna test what it does with my performance with my G-Tech so stay tuned if you wanna know :D

Thanks for sharing all this information _JT, + rep for you :)

I recently bought a 1997 jdm dc2 type r, and it has a stock muffler, and I was looking for a mugen twin loop, because it whas the best exhaust I had on my ek9. The problem as you stated is the price, it is way too much money for a exhaust. I think I'll give this exhaust a chance if I don't find a mugen twinloop exhaust "used one".

The only thing that "bothers me" is that I don't find a dyno sheet, I want to be sure that I'll not mess up my car's performance, If I decide to buy this exhaust and I don't find any dyno sheet, I think I'll have to try and take my car to the dyno, before and faster lol :p

I have my own personal dyno in form of the G-Tech :D So if you're not in a hurry, await my results :) Personally I don't think it will perform worse; it's exactly the same design, straight through and a bit bigger diameter piping.

Thanks man! I'm looking forward for the dyno sheet :)

Actually, 1050aud shipped for an xforce stainless steel cat back twin loop system is pretty cheap. Gets cheaper if you change it to straight through cannon type. Xforce is a good alternative to OBX and Mugen.

I still dont understand why ppl still would want to pay for a mugen twin loop when its a smaller diameter muffler. Restricting for a B18 for sure. I guess some ppl are just stubborn or skeptic even though logic, physics and results make sense. No offence

Cant deny the build quality of mugen and resale value though.

Some people are convinced that anything with an expensive brand name on it is superior to anything else.

Small update: still waiting for my digital decibel meter to arrive :D

That point still stands for complicated parts that require lots of engineering and testing like headers for example, but not so with a straight through twinloop muffler.

Remus mufflers are very gd as lots of sound and dyno testing developement goes with their mufflers. That's why they're expensive

Depends...if a company copies a researched product 1:1 then it shouldn't perform that much worse :)

haha, true, but will have to see product with my own eyes as I know someone who has bought a toda replica header and the damn thing had a 2.0" collector! Wtf?!

Never got around fitting it since my car is now up for sale...

Should take away 15-20db compared to a fully open jap style exhaust system.
