NGK Iridium Spark Plug, Are they worth the extra money over standard Plugs?

someone tell me to buy ngk BKR7ES-11 (not iridium) for my 98 specR and can you tell me what is the gap for these plug??

No matter if you use iridium, platinum plugs etc etc , you still have to occasionally clean them with a bit of fine sanding paper with every oil change. Otherwise any nice cheap fresh plugs will do better.

Anyone got a proper part number for the iridium ngk plugs for b16b?

For me NGK PFR7G-11 are the ones. Denso iridium are ok but I think you must regulate the gap for 1,1mm.

Denso Iridium racing are the best imo... Thinner center electrode (.04mm) and a carved side electrode to make a bigger, cleaner spark.

BTW DOOOOOOO NOOOOOT REGAP IRIDIUM SPARK PLUG!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE GAPPED FOR YOUR ENGINE (if u buy the good ones)... The gapping you see in the CTR's owners manual isnt for iridium. Iridium is a different metal and its electricity conductivity is higher... Regapping them will srew your explosion timing

There's something I don't understand, original gap is 1.1 recomend by Honda BUT if you buy a box of spark plugs by spoon sports (is the iridium power ik24 by denso) they have this text in the box:
Please set the spark plug gap (0.8mm) as standart.

If you instead of denso you buy the NGK iridium witch is BKR8EIX-11 the plug gap come at 1.1mm.

So in MY opinion if you want to buy a set of iridium plugs you should buy NGK because it comes with the gap recomended by Honda.

Well... My d16y7 has 1.1 gap as well... its the standard for this engine, and i read in one of my tuner magazine, that you should not re gap iridium, as they are already gapped for your engine.

even with iridium plugs they need to be re-gapped foryour intended purpose, i use IK27 plugs on my race tuned scooters & the manufacturer who makes my digital ignition says to gap the plug to 0.45mm.

btw gapping the plugs will not change the ignition timing of the engine.

i didnt say engine timing, i said explosion timing
Electrical conductivity of Copper: 595.8 1/mohm-cm

Electrical conductivity of Iridium: 188.679 1/mohm-cm

Its NORMAL that the gap has to be different... none of these 2 materials conduct the same way... one of them is much slower than the other... its physics

put it this way. you're on a 1/4 mile, the finish line is like when the piston is up, and its the fraction of second that is the best time to explode. you, you're the iridium electrode, you go at 50kph, while you opponant, is the copper electrode, he goes at 100 kph. You tell me both of you will cross the line at the same time ? im sorry but its crap...

its OBVIOUS that the gap needs to be different, thats why they are gapped in manifacture, WITH the proper gap. Maybe in 2008-2009 cars the tell the gap for iridium plug in the owner's manual... but not in ek9's

what you may be referring to is the RATE OF IGNITION.

btw if our engines are running with exploding mixtures we would have melted or holed pistons in the first few minutes of operation, detonation is the sudden explosion of combustible mixture inside the combustion chamber. for an engine to operate efficiently you need a controlled ignition of the combustible material, not an explosion.

Bump^^^ - I need to order some as Im getting my Spoon high tension leads next week and I want to change my plus as well:nice:

i thought all b series engines have a knock sensor which prevents detonation to a certain degree.

I haven't read all the post to know if I am reposting this but... I have my car tune back in april this year and showed up with 2 sets of Denso iridium plugs... 22' and 24's... Well he told me that the tips seem to break off after a while, fall down into the cylinder and tare the cylinder walls up... So he tuned my on 2 stage colder platinum plugs

I got a 2000 CTR and I on boost so I now trying the same NGK Iridiums but I using 8s, to see how they perform. So for Ive been getting better gains than when i had in 7s. Im from Barbados so the climate out here is very hot at times...so i decided to use a colder plug n see what happens. i temporarily had in 6s and the gas milage was shitty.

So just to double check - in the UK on a EK9 the right plugs to get are these?

Not gapped just plugged straight in?
