EK9
Hello chaps,

Wanted to introduce myself. Bought my EK9 from R-Motion a few weeks ago after a great deal of hunting! This is my second Civic but first EK9, my daily/missus motor is a lovely 98 EJ9 in Comet Blue.

Timing is bad with winter around the corner so my new purchase will be largely avoiding the salty roads but I wondered how many EK9s were still floating about the Edinburgh area?

Will get some pictures up soon!

Stuart

:welcome: to the forum Stuart!
Looking forward to some pics....:)

Thanks man! Looking forward to attending a few Honda-themed events around the UK to meet everyone and get some inspiration!

My future plans for the car are to keep it fairly original but I want to install some Spoon exhaust goodies from the manifold back - I love a good soundtrack, and some fast road coilovers after I get a feel for the limits of the stock setup. For now, I'm all about keeping on top of the paintwork and hopefully breaking myself into some track time at Knockhill. The car is super clean, I must say Dr Mike at R-Motion found a gem here.

Cheers!

Welcome :) I've got a ek4 SiR and live in Edinburgh mate will keep an eye out for you, car reg looks familiar lol

Cheers mate, just took a look at your SiR Absolutely stunning! Need to check it out in person at some point.

Probably have, 'VAG' tends to be fairly memorable - hopefully for the right reasons.

Lovely looking car mate, big fan of OEM or OEM+

The plate......well, what can i say....

Cheers DM, I can see you are an OEM+ man yourself - lovely example! If you ever want to add a bit of 'pimp' to your 9 though, you are more than welcome to take the plate off my hands hehe. Otherwise, I'm sure a VW driver will be keen.

Thanks for the kind offer...lol!
When you are ready stick a thread up in members rides and keep us up to date :nice:

Car looks good mate. I used to live in Edinburgh but me and my 9 have relocated to stoke. I know there's a couple other ones there. My mate simon is currently selling his.

Cheers man, shame you're not in town anymore. If I ever take the car to Alton Towers, I'll be on the lookout.

Tegiwa? I have have had a couple of packages from you over the last couple of weeks - good effort on the complimentary Haribo btw! Is that a trick to keep 'Honda wags' onside by any chance?

I don't work in the parts/tegiwa side mate I'm next door in ti Motorsport. Dyno day on 26th November.

Ah well, if you can get the Tegiwa side to send over some complimentary sweeties, I'm sure my partner wouldn't mind accompanying me down to the dyno. Would be interesting to see how much power my 9 has lost over the years!

Rob, while you are invested in this thread, I hope I can pick your brains. From your time in Edinburgh, did you ever need to get any paintwork touched up or rust repaired? If so where did you go to get it done? The EK9 is in great shape and I got everything undersealed but my EJ9 has got the classic rear arch bubbling so I will need to get that seen to. I imagine it may involve some welding.

I've got a couple mates that did paintwork for me man but for rear arch repair it would be a lad I know in Perth. Is it really worth repairing an ej9? For arches to be cut out, welded in, smoothed, prepped, painted and flattened would be a costly job.

Cheers Rob, I get what your saying. I guess the thing is that the EJ9 holds a bit of sentimental value because it was passed down through the family - my missus is very attached to it haha. Plus it's only done about 30k so it's got a lot of inexpensive life left in it. Would you recommend your boy in Perth?

If it's only got 30k on it and you do keep the body mint then it will probably have a bit value in years to come when it gets difficult to find clean Ek shells. I could ask him mate see what he thinks or see if anyone I know back home can recommend somewhere more local. Scott in Perth is a cracking painter as well tho if it does go there.

That would be fantastic Rob cheers! The Edinburgh area would be preferable but I don't mind traveling to secure good workmanship - Perth is only 45 minutes up the road after all. Might also lead to a bit of repeated business too as there are a few wee bits on the EK9 I'd like to sort out too - around the top of the boot.
