Ok, I've got an ek9 in my sights and its just basically the shell with usual things on it, just doesn't have an engine and think suspension needs repaired/replaced from what I know. I'll get pics soon but it's not in that bad condition and I'm unsure on whether I should get the finger out and buy it?

What I'm saying is that is it really worth doing this if i'm not the mechanic of the century? Not even qualified only do it in my spare time haha.

Depends on how much your willing to pay and how much the shell is going for. Budget £1500 for the engine etc and a few hundred for the suspension and go from there. Overall though doing it this way can knock a nice amount off then buying it as a complete car.

If your confident with doing it go for it, could get a nice b18 in there and some standard ek9 suspension + shocks for less than 2k

I'll need to act pretty quick, also worried about insurance haha but I'll see how things go man.

go for it, i was a spanner retard, now ive built a crx and a ek from shell upwards its not too bad as long as u keep people involved who know what they are talking about.

go for it u wont be a better mechanic unless u have a bash :) plus hondas are easy

Ask yourelf the following questions. You do not have that many skills as I understand from what you wrote.
1.) Do you like to work on cars and would you mind if it takes a long time? Are you willing to learn new skills even if you get fed up with a problem every now and then?
2.) Do you have time and space to build it up?

If both questions get a yes, do it :nice:

agreed crack on sunshine!...always remember every thread should have pictures

Thanks guys, I'm going to have to find a place to stick it as I don't have a garage, but I do have places to put it anyway. Hopefully he sells it cheap!

as jfayboy said, when i first got my civic 9 years ago(after watching the fast and furios, dont tell no-one lol) i didnt have a clue about cars i was paying people to change all my parts, then my best friend who was a mechanic sat down with me and showed me the ropes, and now ive just started building my second fully forged engine.

and yes my first civic was a black coupe with 17's:angry: and i thought my name was torreto with my APEXI DUNK back box meant for a r34, i was the rice king lol
