hi everyone im driving a 98 ek9 pretty much standard the mods i have is:
fujitsobu legis r exhaust system
de-cat
magnacore ht leads
short ram intake with powertec cone filter

my problem is i find the car very slow getting up the revs untill the crossover so im jus curios is there any mods i could do that wont break the bank

response wise i can only advise getting a good tune up with a programmable ecu like Hondata. You can also get things like Neptune or so. Don't have experience with the last.

Light flywheel should get your response up a bit.

I would say B18C-R but that breaks the bank atleast a bit :)

ya i was thinking bout ecu and flywheel the hondata r v.expensive though was thinking bout the spoon plug and play one and exeedy flywheeel and stage 1 clutch but i dunno if they would be best i want reliability also as im a daily driver deffo the b18 would be a great mod but there big money over here

Lite weight flywheel +cold air intake rather than the short ram.

I found the flywheel made a great improvement to response.

Yep...deffo a flywheel for more response without looking at different final drives. there are two ways to get more response...spend hundreds if not thousands on bolt-ons etc or spend money on your transmission which will get you good response. Also weight saving helps :) quite a lot to take into consideration!

I got a Stripped out ITR with a B20 with 4.78 FD and 4.4kg flywheel. Thats response! but also wheel spin heaven :(

gearbox mods are the way forward mate.Have lightened flywheel and 4.7 flywheel in my jordan and its a massive difference over stock

yeah the gears would give that nice response too but it comes with quite a price to buy all the necessary parts and the labor unless you can work on gearboxes which many people cant.

Im getting excited about my new engine :scared:

4.7 98 spec gearbox and 4.4kgs flywheel with a b18c :scared:

dont forget new stiff engine mounts to get the most response out of your new improvements

I agree with leeK9...get some stiff motor mounts and a lightweight flywheel, these will make your engine respond very well. Its like a motorcycle feel in engine response...its so sweet. Im running polyurethane mounts with a lightweight flywheel.

The motor mounts have a interesting effect, instead of the engines power going into flexing the mounts, instead its concentrated/focused into the drive train, the downside is the engine vibrations are felt within the cabin of the car, and steering wheel. Honestly, I like the feel of the engine, its not that bad. Besides, its felt more at idle, once above 1Krpm its very smooth all the way to redline.

Lightweight flywheel allows a quicker acceleration and deceleration.

Match the stiff motor mounts and lightweight flywheel and you have a very responsive team.

In addition to the flywheel and motor mounts, get some light weight wheels and tires onto your civic. Rotating weight again just like your flywheel, lighter here is always a good thing. Make sure the wheels are strong at the same time...i.e. panasports. [some day, I too will own a set of panasports...some day...some day]
