My Rally Car Build

Does anyone have any distributor wiring diagrams? I have a distributor that isn't suited to the loom i have (different style connectors). I have to plugs i need, just need a wiring diagram. I rekon i have an A1 dizzy and and A2 loom...

I have a nasty feeling i have something wrong, hence it not wanting to run nice.

Thanks,

Had a few more hours on it today. Looked further into the distributer wiring and finally cracked what the issue was... The wrong dizzy for that engine really...

First start-up vid... It's running smooth as you like, the video makes it sound rough, but it's quiet as a mouse. Speedo is all working and so are the fans now. It may not seem like a big deal but having it all working in an MG and working PROPERLY is good progress. Everything is coming together nicely!

Picked up a vertical hydraulic handbrake. Will take quite a bit to fit it, so will tackle that once the car is running properly... :)

starting to take real nice shape m8 :) bet u will be glad when its all finished haha

It is running, but i think i need some later injectors as it seems a little lean. On the hunt for some then it's pretty much there.

Got all the fans wired up and bumper back on for the first time in ages. Also got my suspension back on and sitting nice.

Camera is poo!!

The other carbon filter i had has a few reports of it being bad for heat soak, so wanted to look at an enclosed system. Going to make this Maxogen work.

I was at Huddersfield doing Automotive Engineering. I'm now working for a company called AET Turbos.

Thanks for the comments! :)

This car still has to be one of my all-time favourites - I love it!

Just keeps getting better and better! Keep up the good work!

Some better pics!

It's been in storage for nearly 2 years which had not done the paintwork any favours. I know for a rally car it's not important, but i thought i'd treat it to a t-cut! lol

Thanks to Rixy for his top scrubbin'!

Hi guys,

Long time no update on this...

I had the MOT on Saturday, so Ade took it to his local place. Maiden voyage on the road and all seemed fine when we were at slow pace. Traffic lights onto a dual carriageway so we gave it some stick... Lack of V-Tec gave us both a very unhappy face... We got it to the station and it passed with flying colours, but left me worried about this V-Tec situation!

Had a better look at it last night. Good job Ade is a wiring genious, he sniffed out the problem in around 15 mins. Basically the original car that the wiring came from had a V-Tec controller fitted, which makes one of the standard V-tec feeds redundant. When i cut the controller out, i left the important one un-attached which meant NO TEC! :(

Wripped the incredibly tidy loom to pieces and went for another try round the block. All i can say is WOW! That engine coupled to that box in that car =

I'll get some pics up soon when i have something decent to add...

Thanks,
