My DC2 Race Car Now K20'd

That is a pretty serious teg you have there. Very nice:win:

Look forward to seeing this out! What sorta dosh r the slicks? How competitive is the teg with the rest of the saloons?

You from N.I.? There around the £160+vat mark I haven't actually paid for them yet :(
Been a middle of the pack man at best so far, some real good drivers out there in some real tasty cars. Made few changes over winter so hope I can push on harder but I'm pretty sure I'm running out of talent before the car is lol

hey mate, yeah from ni. built a wee civic to run in the saloons. (just hoping to stay on the same lap lol) would love to try slicks! good luck on saturday. hope to get out to the next one. what size of wheels do you run?

Excellent, for the civic cup? Theres def a great difference with slicks from road tyres! Im running 15" rims, if your about come over and say hi :nice:

Was out a few times last year with the civic cup cars but outta the regs this year so just going with the saloons.... Where do you get your 2nd hand slicks?wouldn't mind trying a set!!

What have they changed in the regs or how come your out of them? eBay is as handy as any for 2nd hand slicks, will get you going with them to start with, either that or if you can find a race team using them in england selling off there 2nd hand stuff but that is very hard to do!!

Long story about my car being lighter and the other cars couldn't get ther weight down to match mine. Then all of a sudden they wer able to after giving me aload of crap. So decided just to build it to be as fast as a can on a shoestring without worrying about regs.

Ah right lol, didn't know there was a weight limit in there regs. Ah we'll, am sure you will have a blast.

Well first weekend done, i had a dodgy start in quali back end felt real loose, had a spin lol but got into it and qualified 5th with a 1:04.7 odd, my best time ever round there. So was happy enough with that.

Changed few settings for race one then and the car felt little better on warm up lap, got away with lead pack at the start i was running 4th having good we battle pushing on as you do lol to about the 3rd-4th lap had a big time 120mph odd spin off at debtors knocked my steering alignment off, kinda lucky got away so light.

Pic I found of the start of it!!

Got the steering sorta squared up again for Race 2, nerves were kinda shot by this stage, wonder why lol, got swamped first lap but got bit confidence back after good few laps and caught up on Leon Supercopa and a 2.3 Evo 6
Managed to get passed the Leon and had good wee battle with the evo. Finished 4th in that race and all home in one piece :)

If id had more faith in myself and the car i prob could have passed for 3rd but the places i thought i could be quicker i just didnt want to push the car due to my earlier escapades, so my lap times in last race were well done but sure it was the first run out of the year. Car definitely has more pace than it used to just need to harness it and be a better driver too.

Il try get the vids loaded up at some point when i figure out how to so you can get a laugh

I made it down to watch the last race of the saloons and you were going very well, good battle with the Evo too.

104.7 is a seriously quick time in a 2L Honda at Kirkistown

I wondered why you were backing off just before debtors, what sort of speed does your car pull on the straights with the k20 now?

You should get down to a few trackskills days with us and get a real feel for the car, the races are too short to get familiar with the car IMO and see what setup works best

I enjoyed the battle with the evo, was good tight clean racing. But I backed well down that race, think my quickest was 1:06.5 which is nearly 2 seconds slower. Just wanted to finish and get few points. Not totally sure the speed now as I turned off the speedo on the dash but has to be at least 120.

The Sundays don't suit me is the problem, will have to try get a test day sorted to give me time to tinker at it.

Sounds good, my mobile phone timing must be quite accurate lol I timed you at around 1:06.5 on a few laps aswell

The DC5 that won was doing 1:04's so your definitally on the winning pace when you were setting those times at the start of the day

Main thing is, you got the car home in one piece and enjoyed it!

Yea you were on the money there, the DC5's are capable of 1:03's no problem.
Maybe the cool temp stopped them getting down times.

Yea that's it buddy, good to get it home in one bit. If I get the videos up you might understand why I thought it wasn't likely lol

Video of race 1 where I had the big slide which retired me due to steering being off.
I qualified 5th overall and 4th in class. The Ginetta at the front of the grid is in a different class in case your wondering  and theres a gap infront of me because one of the cars had a gearbox failure.
Please be kind first race of the year after about 6 months off and I am no pro,
Will try load vid 2 tomorrow

I didn't think you did anything wrong..it just seemed to let go all of a sudden
Would the tyres not be up to temperature at that stage?
