You know, one thing I do not like about the CT Ice Box is how the Ice Box sits up against the coolant overflow tank. Anyone else? Its to the point that the filter nipple is totally bent! Getting a new one as I think the nipple is going to break off soon.

This is due in part to me having the duel core koyo radiator.

icebox from above, relocated my coolant over flow tank to make room for the ice box and the duel core koyo radiator.

Red arrow points to the filter nipple, keeps the filter from moving inside the icebox.

icebox close up of the nipple I am referring to, its bent, hard to see in the picture, but it is pointing down from being pressed against the oem coolant overflow tank.

The nipple is going to break because your filter is sitting wrong. Take out the filter, and look carefully where the nipple sits and you'll notice its not in the centre of the filter diameter. You just need to turn the filter to the correct degree and it'd fit perfect. (i had this prob too).

I'm actually looking for an aftermarket filter for my comptech because I had a tough time cleaning that filter. Was looking at K&N but they didnt have the size since this particular one is an odd ball. I hate foam filters. I'm very sure a K&N would improve this intake nicely. If someone finds one please post it here! Thanks :nice:

I did notice the nipple being off center and I do have it sitting in the ice box correctly. Its really the nipple protruding out to much and hitting the side of the overflow tank. I corrected this by moving the tank, allowing more room for the nipple.

I am on the same track as you as far as the K&N filter replacement. I hate the foam filter, its way to hard to clean.

Here is one that should fit. It also has a carbon fiber top! lol
The inside diameter for the CT filter is 4.125", this one is 4", but it should stretch just fine. Everything else seems to line up to fit just fine. I just ordered one, I will try to update later with fit and picture.

Does anyone know where I can buy the comptech intake pipe from? As it is not part of the kit??

wicked, thanks for the write up i'm gonna buy this kit now if i can find it....

this is random but might be off use to you, my younger borther plays field hockey at a very high standard and he uses tape that has a material weived in to it you put it on the face of your stick to deaden the ball when receiving a pass...
basically if you're tape fails hockey tape is the s*** you need man.
thanks again

i'm going to buy one soon and i need to ask if the Comptech SRI for the b18c engine uses a 3.5'' intake arm (aluminum one) ??
or only the plastic cold air feed is 3,5'' ?
should i get the dc2 version ?

Question for those who owns Comptech Icebox.

Is there supposed to be a gap like this when the lid's close?
