Has anyone else owned one of these on the forum?

I originally bought it for a bit of fun as a daily hack and for trackdays but it's such a fantastic car I actually don't want the car I was saving up for which was a Stage 3 VX220 Turbo, I like my hair-dresser car too much!

Not as fast as an EK9 or as soundly built, but I bought my Roadster for £1000 with a hardtop and no rust on 70k miles so it's a darn sight cheaper! On insurance too!

Got a TR Lane rollbar in it at the moment and fabbing some brackets for bucket seats and harnesses.

Never actually owned one but I was heavily considering buying one a few years back after my friend bought it and I had a go in it. Personally I think it is one of the best (if not the best!) cars in terms of fun/£££. The thing that made me not buy one in the end was the fact that it is a 2 seater and I can only afford to have one car so I need something at least remotely practical.

Myself and a friend of mine bought an 89' Roadster (NA6) in August for a bit of track fun. 100,000 miles for £400 and have to say for a bit of fun its fantastic! The suspension is shot but the balance is so good it still handles great

Ours is standard except for a M's (GruppeM) intake kit which we found a scrapyard for £20, and a front splitter. Going to pick up some KYB adjustable shocks for it tomorrow to try and begin sorting the suspension out. Also picking up a resonated de-cat pipe.

Which TR lane roll bar have you got? We're after something similar

I got the GP and had a harness bar welded to it, it's a bit of a faff to fit but I feel a lot safer now. Just wish I had a bit of time to actually use the car!

This is my old one:

They are immense little things, Make sure you have a good spring and damper setup, working slipper diff and a good 4 wheel alignment and the fact that it only has 130BHP suddenly doesn't mater as much.

Although if you go on MX5Nutz.com there are PLENTY of cheap supercharger setups for 1.6s and 1.8s, super safe on a standard engine even with a higher boost pulley.

Me and a mate built his supercharged 1.6 eunos on my drive, it made 200 BHP after a tune and he did it all for less than 1500

so much potential :win:

Stick a turbo on there a whole lot more fun then:))

brilliant things to drive, so much fun! would love to get a run in a proper SC 1.8 mk1. awesome!

A mate had one. Got it from a straight swap for his fiesta. Lots of sideways fun. Was a bit of a dog though.

i had one a few years back. and loved every minute of it. the way they handle is amazing.
well worth anyones money.

Bought one 18 months ago and had a lot of fun with it on trackdays.
Decided to go all out and start racing this season so it went from Mk1 to this:

It's fantastic fun! 750kg, 130bhp and handles like a gokart with a gearbox! They've took the already perfect handling of the MX5 and made it even better.
