Alright guys!!

i recently bought a few bits of Meguiars products for my car:

Clay bar,
Tech Shampoo,
Tech Wax spray,
Quick Detailer,

I love the quality of the products!
but when i use the tech wax spray or quick detailer, its never a good finish, it jus smears and the only way i can get it out is to wash it again.

Any ideas how i can stop this from happening or should i just move to a different type of wax product??

Cheers,

Ryan

Colours your car ??

As for the Wax you'll no doubt have to lightly work it into the car (Like any other wax) and allow it to haze over for around 30 mins (should tell you a cure time on the bottle/tub) then buff it off, As for the QD that should just be a spray on and rub off dont allow it to dry as this will no doubt be the reason for the marks left over

x2 dont let QD dry on your car spray on and rub off straight away

I use Meguiars products and they are amazing! I use the quik detailer on my carbon bits and it keeps them well shiny and protected! :)

QD dosnt protect mate unless it contains waxes if you want protection,

Clay > Polish > Seal > Wax then top up the wax if you want to

Yea I know thanks but I would never use polish or wax on carbon as it makes it fade! I use the clay>polish>seal>wax combo on the rest of the car but not my bonnet!:win:

Polishes & Waxes don't fade Carbon its UV that does mate

my wax smears wen i put t on i think i wasnt putting it on long enough just got clay bar il have to see how it preforms

I take it were on about "Gold Class" here ?

Should be applied with just enough to cover the area and aloud sufficient time to cure before buffing it off

With Just Meguiars Gold Class you can see shiny results mate ;)

What are you using to apply the products?

I normally rinse my car with water, apply Meguiars Gold Class shampoo, dry it with the Meguairs magnet towel, then apply Autoglym SRP with application mods and buff off with a micro-fibre cloth, then use Meguairs step 3 wax (in the same manner as the Autoglym SRP) :nice: may take around 5/6 hours, but is worth your while mate..

the products im using are...

This one works fine and doesnt smear at all, a great shampoo!

Too be honest i think i will probably try different products, maybe the gold class :)

At the momment im doing as follows when it comes to cleaning the car,

Rinse over with the hose
Shampoo
Second Rinse
Hand Dry,
Clay, if needed,
Quick Detailer,
Wax,

ah see mate sorry, wot is UV tho??lol

Like y3Lo said Ultra Violet ie Sunlight & the only way to protect a car from it is to Polish & Wax it and keep it waxed up or never take it out lol !

I would say your doing it wrong but im a geek when it comes to cleaning cars !

I would recommend that you use other products as tbh Meg's as big as the are are no where near as good as others out there IMO

Id say try some products from the likes of

Chemical Guys
Poor Boys
DoDo Juice
Zaino

the way i clean the car.....:nice:

Snow Foam the Car
Rinse
2 Bucket Method (Chemical Guys Body Wash & Wax)
Rinse
Clay
Rub Down With QD
Dry
Polish
Seal
Wax

Only do the claying and Polishing every 6 months or so :nice:

Im abit confused about two things:

the sealing process, are there products out there to seal the finish created by claying and polishing ect....

Snow Foam?? what is this and where can i get some?? :)

i'd much rather get it right, im not fused about how much money i spend on the right products for the job or time i spend doing it, as i religoiusly spend every sunday cleaning my car :)

Any idea's on good places that sell your recommened brands?

You seal the paint work after the Polishing its a Mid point it isnt really needed but it adds durability to your wax & also most sealants will give the car a shine before applying the wax.

Snow Foam is the most addictive thing you will buy lol ! you will need a Foam Lance (round £50) & a pressure washer if you dont have one the foam itself can be had for round £20 for 5Ltrs and it lasts a while im still on my first lot of it from the start of 2008

can give you a list of products from start to finish that i would recommend and use myself if you like mate.

I've got a pressure washer :) yeaa if you could either pm me a list of brands and where to get them that would be great!! (Y)

Foam Lance... ill look for one of them :D

i find that you need to have two cloths for buffing the wax off

one for wiping off the haze and then one for buffing off the smears

works for me

i think the reasont it smears is because its suppoed to be applyed to a warm panel

i washed and waxed the car last night is the car froze before i could dry the car lol
