matt black

lol i dnt really care it can always be painted again. i know how to do it. my car is a big part of my life like most people in here. i just dnt give a f*&% what any1 else thniks of what i do. Ive let a couple of people i know that. A couple are members on here.

hey again got the car all scuffed up and preped 2day, sprayed number plate holder and honda badge sprayed. painting car 2mora. really nervous.

Hi i sprayed my ek4 myself in halford matt black!!! Worked in a body shop before. Used a finisher spray and also a light dusting with the matt black to ensure an even top layer. looks amazing. due to no laquer you can get away with an factory looking paint job. i will upload photos soon.
Just ensure you do a light dusting for the last layer with no wind around as this will ensure an even top layer and ensure you cannot see any spray marks that you usually get with cans.
Any questions feel free to ask.

kul kul how many tins did it take you roughly? Ive got 24 tins sittin in my shed lol.

when are you gonna be starting cant wait for the pic's.. looking forward to doing my other car matt black..make sure and take loads of step by step pic's

I just dont get how you can get a good finish with rattle cans, I just wouldnt risk it, but then Im not a sprayer. I know 90% of the job is in the prep, but still a halfords can getting a nice showroom finish, dont get it. Would love to see pics when you start work.

the truth is you cant. every rattle can job ive seen looks strippy, you cant get a even finish with a rattle can. sorry

with any other colour i'd say yes but as far as I know its not too bad when its matt black as with this colour you want a kind of sandy dust kind of effect if you know what I mean.

I will be doing my Mk3 Astra in a few weeks when i have time, I will prob use a spray gun tho.

yeah out of a tin you cant get a good finish with paints that are ment to have a shinny finish ie gloss, metalic but matt has no shine. This eg was done out of a can.

yea that was done awhile ago..he done a really good job on that eg.
When you starting your project?????

As said I'd definitely use a spray gun,do not use cans!!

I nice set of slipstreams/other spoon replicas in black or graphite would finish it off nicely!

ive started scuffing up car, ran out of scuff pads need scuf paste. If cars preped well it'll be grand

i'm interesting painting my ek black mat too :nerv:
i think is easyer working with mat colors they need less detail and shadows are not so visible.
even with cans i think it will be nice good luck !! :nice:
when done dont forget the pics man !!

i love matte black, cant justify spending £1500-2k having my car vinyled or painted but if i had money to throw away i would

lol sorry been a bit lazy took car apart bumpers number plate holder badge etc there preped rear bumper sprayed and number plate holder and badge a kul colour. Got car rubbed down ready to paint. 2mora im hopeing to mask up rub down roof and spray whole car hopefully if all goes well. Ill take step by step pics.

look forward to it, hopefully the weather will stay dry with a little bit of sum..
