Motorcyclist jailed for YouTube speeding stunt (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) - A British motorcyclist who posted footage of himself performing dangerous stunts and speeding at up to 130 mph (209 kph) on YouTube was given a 12-week jail term on Monday.
Sandor Ferenci, 28, performed wheelies, skids and raced on the opposite side of the road around Banbury, Oxfordshire, in June this year and then put the footage on the video-sharing website.
Ferenci, who admitted two counts of dangerous driving at a previous hearing was jailed at Oxford Crown Court and disqualified from driving for two years, the Press Association reported.
He will have to take an extended driving test before he is allowed on the road again.
Prosecutor Brian Payne said a motorist who saw Ferenci's antics on the A422 Banbury to Brackley road took down his registration number and later contacted police.
When officers called at his home, Ferenci asked them: "Is this about the YouTube video?"
Judge Terence Maher told Ferenci he had performed "lunatic and grossly irresponsible manoeuvres at considerable speed."
The footage, which was played to the court, had been filmed by a friend from various angles including from a footbridge.
Ferenci's lawyer Gary Bell said his client, who works as a carer for an elderly woman, had read a story about a child who died as a result of a motorcycle accident and now understood the ramifications of his actions.
"He is truly remorseful for what he has done and is truly sorry," he told the court.

One question I got though, how did they know it was him!:nerv:
Someone took down his registration number and called the police, it says it right in the article. It does kind of suck that he incriminated himself with the video.

And it wasn't THAT extreme, nobody was in danger in the film but himself. There should be no jail time.

There should be no jail time.

I'm with you there man, whatever next, people being thrown in jail for speeding?

Seems like they probably wanted to make an example of the poor bloke, guess he's only got himself to blame for publishing it though, doubt they could have done much if it werent for that..

Yes I know that, but the YouTube video is so grainy, how did they know it was him! Personaly, I would have just said that someone stole my bike, my clothes, and my helmet. I would have never admitted it was actualy me! I would have taken that little secret to my grave.

ppl like him make our insurance high! should send him to jail longer for pulling stunts like that!

I'm sure he could have fought it but I don't think anyone would believe some crazy story, and he'd still do time.

Sounds like he was trying to do a 'Ghostrider', Sweden? Did they catch that one?

It was a similar setup to getaway in stockholm, just a mad bastard filming himself doing silly speeds on public roads..

the gut would set himself a time to get from one place to another in the fastest possible time and go for it.

even if it ment filtering at 150. one word. nutter
