J's Racing Headers

I have a J's Racing 4-1 and I measured the collector OD at 67mm.

Will be swapping it with a Hytech pretty soon...
Keep in mind that perhaps you should have to remove A/C and P/S with the Hytech manifold. Its a strictly track part :nice:

Thanks Manos will check it all out...

I had it on my EK4(B16A6 shorter block) with no problems. We then fitted it to a mates B18C6 ITR and it interfere'd with the 1-piece reinforced block to gearbox brace, we swapped the brace for the 2 piece B16a part which solved that. A/C & PS not in the way... ;)

For interests sake here is a dyno comparison between a stock JDM ITR still with stock 4-1 header and a UKDM ITR with Hytech header & custom 63mm exhaust only.

Yellow = '96 UKDM ITR, Hytech header & custom 63mm exhaust only
Green = '98 JDM ITR, completely stock.

Dyno was done on same dyno on the same day at roughly 1400m above sea level(we lose roughly 18% power compared to coastal)...

Tmus, hopefully soon...

na_vtec, has it been fitted yet?

the jdm 98spec type R header is 4-1 correct? The hytech is a 4-2-1 type correct? That should explain the lower and mid range gains. But considering we are comparing 4-1 typeR and 4-2-1 hytech headers, those would be pretty big gains from a 4-2-1 typeR header. :nice:

hey jugbugz, those price u quoted are they aud??

i was also considering some (not too expensive) headers too, was actually thinking bout getting the HKS myself... but never knew the J's was only that lil bit more!

let us know how it goes... and can you hook us up with a similar deal? I'm in Melb... :)

Not fitted yet Jugz, STILL waiting for someone to get stock of 63mm flexi-hose !!! :angry2:

How many you want? I can get it shipped straight to you from Japan.
I think they in YEN. PM me which one you want

what would be the price in yen including shipping and commision etc etc

Man, I've got so many parts to ship and was thinking to get everything shipped by Sea. But if everyone keeps nagging me then I'll have to ship that 1 piece by AIR. lol

price, it really depends on the shipping to your country. I think it's about 17000yen or less for shipping to UK + 10% commission(half me half supplier).

so 17000 shipping.
whats the header price????

(and ye plus 10%)

Ok so friday I fitted the Hytech and the difference in noticeable.
At low rpm it is quieter and more responsive than the J's, going up through to vtec it's so much smoother!!! Power feels slightly more throughout the rev range even up at 8000rpm where the 4-1 "should" be better suited.

So now I'm running Hytech 4-2-1, 63mm flexi-hose and 63mm pipe to centre box, then 60.5mm through to 5zigen backbox with a tiny resonator just before the backbox.

I have not dyno'd the car yet, but had another race with a mate in his stock JDM ITR for real life comparison:

1st time we ran I had the J's Racing 4-1 and 57mm pipe to centre box, then 60.5 through to back, "previous owner cocked-up with decat". ITR would pull me immediately from a 3rd gear rolling start, 4th gear he ran away like 100meters ahead through to limiter.

This time, now with Hytech 4-2-1 & 63mm to 1st box, 3rd gear we next to each other with him gradually pulling only 1 car length, 4th he still pulls but ALOT less than before. Each run seemed like about 20meters.

^^^Bad way of explaining things I KNOW but I have no dyno curve as yet.

Next step is either Spoon drop in filter with stock box or J's Racing type Carbon intake... Suggestions?

Just ordered the j's 4-2-1 ek9 manifold from japan ,6-8 weeks shipping ,i cant wait to get it :woot:,i hope it'll be a great improvement on the 4-1 d-c 2.5'' race header im running

very important to tune car after fitting high end header like hytech, running genuine one myself and shocking what can be achieved after tune

vtec: should get good low and mid range gains over the 4-1

Tmus: lol, you tempting me to ship it separtely. But I'll have to save money on shipping this time and ship it by sea with other parts.

Main reason for getting J's was to match it with the J's CF induction and replace my dented 5zigen headers.

iceman: thats true. especially jumping from 4-1 to 4-2-1 or vice versa.

Jugbugz:im replacing the d-c 4-1 header because i also dented it ,but the d-c 4-1 header is only any good from 6-8.4 k rpm and i actually lost some power lower down (or round town driving) so i think the j's will be a good choice for low to mid power like you say,and also it'll give a lot more ground clearance than the d-c 4-1 2.5'' header :nice:

would the j's 4-2-1 header be a good combo with a mugen twin loop exhaust system?

Thats cool... glad you pointed out the power loss down low and mid range, as many people don't think it's that much difference.

I was going to try out the JDM type R 4-1 header for fun just to see the difference because I can get it for like $200aud (80pounds). But no need to now, just let us know how much power increase you get below top end as you'll be installing it before me. :nice:

cyek9: you should get nice results... especially down low and mid range from the Mugen twin loop and 4-2-1 combo. :nice:

Jugbugz the teg type r jdm 4-1 header is supposed to be very good it's got smaller diameter primary pipes than an after market 4-1 header ,so you dont lose that much low to mid power but with it still being a 4-1 configuration it still makes good power high up the rev range mate .Also i'll put up a full report once i get the j's manifold 4-2-1 fitted and dyno sheets off when i had the d-c 4-1 manifold on then get it dynoed again at the same dyno with the j's 4-2-1 fitted to compare that graph's
