Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Right so this week has been attack the cooling system, basically carpet bombed it lol
New thermostat as I found the original one didn't seem to open all that far from water out of the kettle.
The new one is 2c cooler but that's no big deal really.
76degree Gates thermostat

Also changed the rad cap for a mishimoto 1.3bar item (very nice it is too) and I've replaced half the coolant with water to bring the coolant mix ratio down (water cools better than coolant mix). After speaking with some friends I've decided to give that redline "water wetter" a go. Apparently it actually works and isn't absolute bullshit...
The good news is that on idle the car can now maintain its temp (fans come on and it cools down, as it should) this wasn't happening before so the stat clearly did something.

Now next hit in the strange power issue is the distributor, I wanted a spare anyway as these turbo Bs are pretty hard on the ignition system and getting stuck in Germany for a dizzy (more likely a coil) would be tragic. Que HondR with their replacement distributor, looks nice and fresh and has 2 year warranty so should see me happy for a good few years.

I'll bring a new coil with me ;) just in-case.
New dizzy looks good, expensive or not too bad?

275 delivered. I'm keeping my dizzy but there's a 30 surcharge so would be 245.
Expensive but these distributors are 18years old in a 98 ek9....

Not too bad at all considering it comes with a 2 year warranty.

Yeah the honda ones are double the price it seems.

I just got the same dizzy few months ago,
And I paid 175 euro for my one ,but without delivery,
Also when I got my new dizzy it would not time to
16deg BTDC for some reason?
I got a replacement and that was fine ,
Vtec6000 also I remember him saying the same thing ,
That he went through 3 of them before he got it to time
Right ,
If that does happen when your away , I think if you swap out your icm over it will fix it ,
Now it my be already good ,
And we over here just got the **** ones , and going by price difference, that my be it .
Just a heads up .

Both my dizzy have timed up fine according to my timing light with fixing the timing via hondata.
If for some reason it won't time I can adjust the timing map in the tune to suit.
I think the hondR ones are made by King? Some cheaper on eBay like delco but I decided to go with hondR and have the warrantee.
May be a giant waste of time but atleast it's fresh now.

Yeah that must be it alright, the one I got was a Ashuki dizzy? On the ball , ah s300 does wonders ,
No need to play with the dizzy it's self , good stuff .
Also only a 1 year warranty with mine .

It timed up fine with like 25degrees of adjustment(on the dizzy) from full retard to full advance.
I have heard of the issue though but I thought it was coming from a b16a dizzy to a 16b/18c one. Td87-u or something or other is the type r one.

So I've had a set of pro race 1s laying about for a little while, plan to use them as road wheels so I'm not burning through my semi slicks and killing the TE37 with brake dust for no reason.
Problem was they needed hefty spacing to fit and due to the mounting face of the wheels the normal bolt on style wouldn't work.
So off come the front hubs

On go a set of extended wheel studs to allow a decent sized spacer to be used with the pro race 1s.

With an assortment of spacers I worked out I could clear the calipers with a 10mm spacer, bloody tight though. This is with a 13mm spacer arrangement

That's a 0.7mm feeler gauge, needless to say I'll be stepping up afew mm for safety sake.

So finally got a set of 15" rims over these 310 wilwoods!

More nurburgring prep to come but nothing major.

Not much to say here really.
Fixed the TPS problem I think, swapped back to the old tps and it all dials up nicely.
0.46v CT (I know it's ment to be 0.48) and 4.57v WOT.
Gave it a small drive about today just to be sure it's not leaking any coolant etc and all seems well atm.
I have a sticky iacv which is annoying, I have a fix though....

I have tried redline water wetter, and it actually worked really great. I had great issues with water temp on track with my tucked radiator. Without water wetter I could get around 1-2 hot laps, with water wetter I could get 3-4 laps, and the water temperature would also cool down a lot through a cool down lap.

Yeah the coolant temp could be annoying at the nurburgring. I wasn't having any issues before though.

We sell Evans waterless coolant at work, it's good stuff just very expensive!

General nurburgring prep this week.
Bought a set of insane driveshafts 500hp rated as mine the cv kept leaking and it had been like that for about 2 years. Decided just to replace the whole lot and have it fresh, changed the intermediate shaft bearing aswell as the driveshaft seals in the box.

Also decided to push for more boost and lean out the tune alittle bit. Going well just taking it afew psi at a time. Very close to maxing these injectors out now!

Yep! Will see you later today! Praying for dry weather for this evening again. Was lovely yesterday evening
