Trackday updates!!!
Brands hatch evening session with Gavin and his buddy in a ballistic 106.
I had just bought two 16x8 Advan RG from @SPek9 they came with used 225/45/16 dz03g so thought I'd give them a run out and see what all the 225 fuss is about.
Started the day with the 225s up front and my bald/knackered 195s that used to be on the front now on the rear.
This proved to be interesting on the sighting laps when I'm sideways at normal road traffic speeds!
Abit of testing later and I put the old rears on the back(more tread, better condition) and run them up till warm. The oversteer is much more controllable now and the car rotates like I've never felt before from a FWD.
here's a picture minus sideskirts while we where testing the water with the new setup
Ended up we where on full hard on the front dampers and 2nd from lowest(out of 5) on the rear to try and tame the back abit! I need to learn how to control it as I over correct ATM and it throws me offline(ESP at paddock hill bend)
Looks abit more racecar with the blue! Comes very close to the floor aswell on compression!
Gavin's b18c metro on ITBs

Said ballistic 106
C20let, Quaife ATB, Meth injection
420hp lol
Having fun chasing this guy about!
Cheeky video of the chase, I've never seen anything pull away from me this quickly before! Absolute weapon!
My favourite picture of the day, sitting pretty(ish) in the pits
So, the combined effect of the 225s and the splitter have completely transformed the car! I actually have more trouble keeping it from over steering than I do from understeer. Unfortunately my brakes finally gave up on me, long pedal which eventually ends up in locked rear wheels so I'm guessing I've managed to boil ATE superblue DOT4 fluid. Fluid is quite old now(atleast 18months-2years) and I do have the brakes smoking every session so pumping plenty of heat through my stock stoppers.
This put an end to any PB I was going to make! Having to brake a good 15-20metres early for paddock and early everywhere else really kills the advantage I gained in the corners and from turning the boost up.
Best lap was the very last lap(one of very few clean laps) 56.7
A whole 0.3 shy of my PB so happy with that considering.
Here's that lap
Not having the brake pedal under me really effects my confidence in the 1st 3rd of every corner. So it's really punishing me, that and not having got to grips with the new balance means that this is way off the pace it could be. Which is a good sign really.
Engine still going strong, that comes out in the next few weeks for the newly built forged block(after new rings arrive)
Replace brake fluid and hit the track at japfest2!
