JDM EK9 Race car project nearing completion

Thanks for the interest Jag!

There is progress, but the guys in the workshop are so busy they haven't had time to email me any pics.

Fuel system is in, undertray is being installed, and suspension is all back together in preparation for corner weighting.

Will just have to wait and see I'm afraid, shouldn't be long now!

In other news I just picked up a major sponsor, but will have to make the announcement once the deal is finalised.

Thanks!

Finally got some pics of the undertray! It's in an advanced stage of completion, so hope to have the car home soon so I can take pics willy-nilly for all and sundry! I don't have any shots of the fuel system, but in one of the pics youou can see the fuel cell and surge tank sitting next to the tail gate so probably not alot to take pics of inside the car!

There has been some good news regarding sponsorship, Gear-X has sponsored a gear box for the car with an excellent close ratio setup, and (joy of joys) a prototype plate LSD currently running in their championship winning DC2 from California (I think the sister car to the one that they raced in the Thunderhill 25hr race last year with Dixon from DixcelBrake?).

The LSD is a prototype and not commercially available until the end of the year so they'll be using my car as a bit of a test mule for this season.

Needless to say the new livery will include Gear-X!

Anyway, on with the pics!

More soon!

 :drive: :nice:  Keep up the awesome work.

Get some nice in car footage if you can of it on track ?? would love to see it in action :nice:

Thanks Neil!

Will be testing as soon as it's road-worthy so will get some in-car.

Should have made quite a difference methinks ;)

Looks amazing and very effective for channeling the airflow underneath the car:nice: Exhaust angle is savage!

Wow, just wow. Do you seriously have a +130wkw engine? I heard that it wasn't possible?

Progress is progressing!

The exhaust is done, as well as most of the rear undertray/diffuser. If you look at the pics closely you can see how much the lower/inner guards have to be extended to become level with the floor pan, quite a bit!

The headers were sitting a couple of inches too low, so the header has been modified to sit right up inside the trans tunnel, making it better for air flow and clearance to the front splitter.

Not long to go now, the fuel system is finished and in the car as I type this, so shouldn't be much longer before I have the car back to do a full pictorial essay for you all!

That said however, there is still a full gearbox rebuild to be done in there somewhere so I would imagine it'll be longer than I'm hoping!

In the meantime though, enjoy the pics!

Well, not far to go now!

There has been a week of solid progress and finally it's all starting to take shape! The undertray is finished, and the diffuser is completed, but for the purposes of installing the fuel system has been left off the car for now.

It's so close to coming home I can feel it!

Once it arrives I'll be giving it some more interior love, along with a full respray inside and out, and a complete re-wire. Then the car will be stickered with the new sponsors (in the new colours) and then its off to the track for testing!!!

In other news, the Hankook slicks I ordered way back when have arrived in the country, but the distribution centre for Hankook is in Christchurch. The Hankook warehouse is knee deep in liquifaction after the earthquake that hit there a couple of weeks ago so I'll have to wait until that's cleared up before I can get my hands on them.

In the meantime, enjoy the pics below!

Well hands down, best EK build ive seen to date. I love this car and one one too. Living in the USA makes parts very difficult to obtain. I have wanted you dash for years now but am unwilling to pay 4k usd. As you have hoped for in your previous post, I will be using some of the concepts you have layed out. As one of the few USA CTR owners I would like shake your hand. Great build and thread! lol willing to pay for some of your old parts and rep state side

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I have contacts in both the USA and UK if anyone needs parts sourced here, prices are quite reasonable here, and sometimes we can get hard to find items that others can't.
