Is a turbo suitable for me?


Guess I''ll have to calculate what my initial N/A tuning plans would cost and see how big the difference is with a turbo setup.

Thats what i did and i ended up deciding to buy a used turbo kit instead :nice:

B18c conversion ???

Intake:

Let me go through my list.

B18c conversion: it totally depends on the engine that will be in the EK9 I buy. If it has average mileage, I'll probably take it out and sell it here. If it has low mileage I might just buy other internals and use the rest of the engine for it.

Intake manifold: probably a Blox. It's a Skunk2 replica only for a lot less :D Or a Performer X, but I need to know how much extra power that will give me over the Blox/Skunk2.

Throttle body: probably a Blox. They're affordable and can't find anything but good about them. 66 or 68mm I think.

S80 gearbox: I want a short final drive but I want a longer 5th gear; 120@4300rpm is a bit too much for my liking. So I could change the fd and 5th gear and open up the box. Or just buy an S80 with also a shorter 4th gear but a longer 5th with as a result that all gears are shorter except for the 5th. Well, just a little bit but imho not worth considering since it's only a 1.5mph difference in top speed. Added BIG plus: I don't have to open up my box and I can sell my S4C here.


So my plans would cost me a bit more than 3k probably. Makes a big difference with turbo plans which will cost me at least 4k or even more. Can someone make calculations for the costs of building a turbo setup for about 250whp inc a B18c conversion?
 
D16z6 but these are future plans for my EK9 :D My plan is to get hold of an EK9 within a few, probably 2, months.

OK, well you can just swap in a 1.8 shortblock, you don't need to do the whole b18c conversion, you can also just use a b16a block also or just use the oem b16b and turbo it with a thick head gasket and head studs, you have so many options, i suggest you research research research and decide whats best route for you.
