For the sake of gaining another years no claims discount, on a cheaper car and cheaper insurance policy, I think you could manage without the private plate.

Weigh up the odds.

if your serious about the EK9 or DC2...then start at the bottom and work your way up.

Don't run before you can walk as they say!!!

You'll certainly appreciate the EK9 more after a VTI.

I had the 5 door VTI (MB6 B18C4) before mine.
 
I'm gonna see if I can find a nice VTi if not I might just go for the Jordan and wait till next year for a 9. What bhp figure is the VTi? W reg onwards?

iv got a ek4 vti on a w plate its awsume to drive good performance 2. and off the £4000 u saved not buying an ek9 u can put into insurance and tunning and it will be faster than a 9 not the same apeal but hey. im 22 and only pay £850 for insurance

hmm, just correcting your assumption on EK9 vs DC2R weight.

DC2R 1080kgs
DC2R 98spec 1099kgs
EK9 1090kgs
EK9RX 1099kgs
EK9 98specR 1050kgs(no recaros)

DC2 ITR definitely superior to EK9 in all aspects except for personal tastes in looks. Another thing to note is the 98spec ITRs come with 4.78FD whereas EK9 never did. Power might only be 15hp difference but it's the B18C torque that overwhelms the B16B(i only wished EK9 came with B18C instead). Between the 2, DC2R is definitely faster, and if you compare JDM DC2R model to EK9, theres no comparison.

Handling wise, there could be some arguement between the 2, but all comes down to how the driver's driving style.
 
as said m8, having a vti would be more beneficial due to age, insurance purposes... and appreciation of the 9.
as for performance between the ek9 and dc2s..... in vtec, there isnt too much difference, however, the b18 does have a lot more useable torque...
as said, depends on drivers style!

Right ok thanks mate. I take it X reg ones are harder to find am I correct? I made my mind up also to go with a jordan. I know the insurance is expensive but I had my heart set on either a 9 or a Jordan, and I know if I just went for the VTi as you kindly told me about, I know I wouldnt be 100% happy. So might as well fork out the extra insurance money for a Jordan. Gonna wait till im 19 though as its a little cheaper than it would be at 18.
 
I am sure a jordan is only a vti but with the special colour and interior no extra engine mods, correct me if i am wrong. Why dont you try and find a white ek4 vti and do an ek9 rep until you can insure the real thing for decent money?

you are rite mate that is the only thing colour and interior. they are slower to cos they weigh more than a VTI. dont think they are worth the money over a vti i know there is only 500 of them made and so on. thats what i would do get a white or black vti and make a rep for just now thats what im doing as cant aford a ek9
 
True again.

The Jordan just has the front and rear lip kit, black and yellow interior (which I think is hidious), and different alloy wheels.

I had an EK4 in black.

Was sweet. Then I bought another black one and gave it to a mate.

Another mate had a black one and another mate sprayed his silver EK coupe to black. Seeing these 4 cars in convoy was a thing of beauty!!!
