Insurance on an EK9 at 20?

an important thing to remember is that insurance company will find every way out of paying you when they have to
so if you have not insured you car under any apart from a civic type r the chances are you will not get paid out if you have a crash or some ****er nicks you car

Going to give you a ring closer to the time of me buying an EK9, you should setup online quoting, the convenience is really handy for customers.

It's been mentioned a few times.. the trouble with online quotes is that they assume a lot of the information. If you run through a quote on the phone then the details are all there and correct.

Personally, I'd rather speak to someone on the phone.. especially when the spec list on my turbo engine converted MR2 is three pages long!!

Online quotes/price comparison sites are all good for you mum's run about Corsa but not so good for imported/modified vehicles (in my opinion)

I'm 20 and can get insured on ek9 for £1500 with Admiral with 0NCB and an SP30.

You should try either Admiral or Elephant and put your parents, girlfriend, and older brother or sisters down as named drivers. I found it reduced my premium by £700 if I put my parents and my sister whose 28yrs old on the policy, but it does also depend on your occupation, where you live, where you park it, mileage etc.

They dont sound as bad as I initially thought to insure. Im quite suprised and pleased :D

Am 21, driving for 3 years with 3 points and 0 NCBand its £980 full comp with my mum and dad on it. With them on it the price came down from £1275 so a wee saving. Am with admiral should come down more in December when i finally have a years no claims :). but i found Admiral to be the best out them all.

just got a quote from adrian flux , £2000 for me tpft , 20 yrs old , driving 2 yrs , best quote ive got yet

that is bewildering buddy! :nerv: Im 20 in a few weeks..Il probably buy my EK9 just after xmas..but insurance is gonna kick me left, right centre! I heard Bell is one of the cheapest insurance groups for the EK9..also Admiral! £1900 is alot.

Have you already bought your EK9?

I just have to go and collect it from Dunx and pay for the final half lol I get the feeling im just going to have to live with the cost for a while, but end of the day will be worth it once I get to drive her. :))

Just makes you a more carefull driver to protect the investment I guess.:p

Managed to get my quote with bell down a bit by increasing my excess to a total of £700 then phoned admiral who I was currently insured with and only 3months into my policy and said that I wanted to change my car. Told them my quote from bell which they matched seeming as they were the same company. In the end paid around £1600 in total which I was quite happy with. :)

So it seems bell is still a pretty competitive company. Hope this helps a few of you in the future.

£1600 is a really good price for the age you are mate! Ahhh..I cant wait to get the 9! lol il definitely try out admiral and bell when it comes to insuring it. Im with direct line at the moment and they dont allow any mods unless your 25 or over.

I heard Admiral allow you upto a number of mods aswell before bothering you..think it was 5 or 6?

I got an insurance quote from Sky insurnace for £1600
3rd party,Fire & Theft.

Im 20, 2years NCB & stated my occupation as a Shop ManAGER.

Equivalent quote on an ATR was £1900, How come
so much price diffrence???

Also £1600 seems pretty steep considering its
not even fully comp?

DC5 & JDM EP3 was Un-insurable untill im 21 so
i was told!!!

INSURANCE:mad::mad::mad:

Yh it can be a bit awkward getting these cars insured for younger drivers you will be looking at just under the 2k mark I used bells site and put the excess up alot compared to what I was paying and the saved me a bit but beware because there is a point were the extra you pay for the excess just dosent justify the saving think its after the £500 mark.
I got mine a bit cheaper as I was just changing the car on a existing policy and had used 3months up so it made it feel alot less painful.

I'm 20 and got insured through Bell with £1k excess and pay £970 per year fully comprehensive! I took off all the stuff I didn't need from the quote like being able to drive all other cars third party (£150), ice protection etc using FlexiBell and saved about £400.

I'm lucky I guess :win:
