Hi all. I joined this forum in 2007 when I was 18. As soon as I saw the EK9 I wanted one right away until I found out that insuring one at 18 was going to be difficult. Cheapest quotes I was getting was £4500! I was told maybe if I waited until I was a bit older the price would come down. I am now 20, had my liscence 2 years and will have 1 years NCB in december. I was just wondering how many people on here are insured on an EK9 at 20? Also how many NCB do you have and what insurance company are you with? I know alot of insurance companies come up with VTI-R import, Type-R import and these are not the EK9. So any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Lee.

There are a few members that are 19 and has EK9's here, most of the time the price depends on their location. Give bell.co.uk a go to see how much it will cost you. Also on sites such as bell.co.uk, elephant.co.uk, admiral, tesco they all have import type r listed.

I was told that import type r was not an EK9? I went onto the Quinn Direct site and EK9 (import) type-r did come up but they could not give me a quote at the time.

EK9 is a type r, so if its within 1997-2000 then it should be ok since the EP3 didn't come out till 2001.

im 20 and got insured with kwick fit £1600 tpft i really should have looked better and i could have got it cheaper, i do have 3 years no claims n been driving 3 years tho i have had quotes fot about £600 fully comp from bell the seem pretty good.

I'm 20 with 2 years NCB insured on an Rx fully comp. for £970 with FlexiBell (it's bell.co.uk but you can choose what cover you do and don't want).

Bell, elephant, admiral and that are all one company EUI LTD!

Best bet would be with CIS, or Bell.

Okay, i'll try flexibell. Just wanted to check that it is an EK9 as dont want to buy one and find out that I have insured the wrong thing. Thanks, mate.

Just been on the Bell site. Got a quote for me 20 years old, 0 NCB with mum as added driver. £1517.29 fully comp. Can this be right? Insured as Type R (import) 1997-2001.

That's an EK9, I phoned to check it all when I got my policy.

Add another experienced named driver, play about with your job (I went from 'Farm Manager' to 'Farmer' and saved £400) and then choose FlexiBell and in the options only tick 'Legal Fees' since you don't really need break-down cover and the rest of it. You'll be surprised how much it will go down.

I gave Bell a ring this morning and they said the Type-R (import) IS an EK9! Really happy! Now time to sell the 106 and look for an EK9.

I'm glad for you! I know what it's like, I phoned a hundred insurance companies and got rubbish quotes but then someone on here said about Bell and Elephant and they were a quarter of the usual prices! Put down a deposit in my car within a week! :nice:

Just used Bell for a quote! I highly recommend them to any 21 and unders!

My quote came back at £1500 fully comp.

I'm 21
9 points
4 years driving experience and 0 NCB

The sad thing is it's £798 a year fully comp under the same circumstances if I don't declare my points :(

Great company thanks for the rec!
