Having worked and saved up money for an Ek9 i was wondering if there were any 17 year olds;
who had been insured for one
what the lowest price they could get was
and are there any useful insurance companies that you could get the best deal from?
cheers :)

If you can get it i think youl be looking at £3000+

exactly, i was qouted 4000euro and im 21 on an ek9 with provisional licence, in ireland by law they have to insure you if you have the car bought and own it

whats the point?

i imagine it'll be your first car, something WILL happen to it, get something you can learn the basics in (and not the basics you learn on a driving test/lessons, they teach you to pass a test, not to drive properly and considerately).

get something you dont mind pranging, as it will happen.

My Mate had a dc2 for a first car he was 18 and his insurance was £6175 ans yours wont be much less, i really would advise getting something not as expensive as your first cause you wont get the most out of it. get a lower power civic thats what my m8 wish he did.

Hope this has shed some light.
Tom.

thanks for the comments, very helpful, will probably look for a lower power civic cheers

I insured mine at 18 and it was £1200 tpft. If that helps, but I also think a sound bit of advice would be to get an ek3/4 and but bits that you could put on an ek9 when you got it

Agreed ! im sure its every ones dream to own an Ek9 at 17 . but the reality is you need a car to make mistakes in and to learn from them . plus its not always your own driving you have to worry about . There are so many d!ck head drivers who WILL pull out on you or rear end you. my advice is to buy a 1.4 EJ9 to make and learn your mistakes in , and also to actually build up no claims bonus so you can get good insurance price for an EK9 in a few years :nice:

get an ej9 and get type R bits for it If you're desprate for that type R look. no doubt when you get that ek9 you will be so tempted to thrash it and you will end up killing yourself mate or even worse some family you have just smacked into. dont rush into it mate longer you wait the better it will feel when you get that thing on your driveway

bell just gave me a quote of 7K for an ek9 how the hell will i find cheap insurance next year

A horrific waste of money & Car, dont get an ek9 for your first car, you need something not as good...... something will probably happen to it ,especially with that sort of power in a first car, your better getting an ej9/ek3 learn to drive a bit, upgrade the handling and get used to having a car like that, THEN get an EK9 so you will appreciate it more :)

thats just my opinions! Plus do you really wanna spend that much on insurance?

i see where you's are coming from, but its totally down to the person and not the age if you ask me, a guy at 26 could do something as stupidly as a guy whos passed a week, if they care about the car and themselfs enough they will have the sence not to do something silly. but thats not the way the insurers look at it, because the majority who pass probably do drive like tools. wait till your 19 bud, i got a quote for one on my 19th and it was 1500 in my own name fully comp, with 2 years no claims, but i'm happy enough with my b18 ej9 anyways.
