Hi all,

I think my engine may be using little too much oil. Roughly needs 0.74 litre per 1000 miles and I'm pretty sure it wasn't always that bad. I don't have any blue puffs out the back either.

It may be I am enjoying vtec a bit too often but am thinking it could be the stem seals just starting to let go.

I am asking because I have a cambelt change booked and wondered if its worth getting them changed while it's at the garage and the engine has done 107000 miles now.

Thanks

Have you changed to a different oil recently or changed anything like a de cat?

My first ek9 used to use around a litre per 1000 miles with a decat and about 2-300 ml with the cat in.

Also take a look in your inlet manifold for oil as it could be your pcv valve failing.

Haha yes roughly John ;)

Have always stuck with Motul 5w40 so no change there. Has had a sports cat fitted for over 4 years now.

Will start with the PCV then, hoping its something that straight forward.

Before delving into the internals, Check for leaks around the sump etc...

Also, Motul 5w40 x-cess 8100 burns off quite easily compared to other oils under spirited driving/track I've found along with others.

Havent spotted any leaks recently but will double check.

I guess thats another thing to bear in mind, thanks kipper. I know the usage isn't that silly yet but I am getting wary of it.
