well basically as some of you know im looking for my first car but im starting to think about moving off the civic scene :(

BUT staying on the JAP scene?!?!
ive was thinking about a

Toyota Starlet?
or
Nissan Micra?

i saw a micra the other day which looked quite nice and made me think about it ?

Help me ! :please: :please:

first car cant really think of anything better than a civic ?

but first car really should be pretty **** becuase you most prob will bump it lol

tbh i love my civic and im glad it was my first car .. i feel either way i woulda wound up in the honda scene so why not start early lol .. and to answer your question .. pick one that is a little cheap ... cheaper to fix cuz you will need fixing here and there on a first.. and something your knowledgable on .. if you know hondas stick with hondas ....

I wouldn`t worry too much about your first car - buy something you can afford to run on a daily basis, and be able to insure etc

aslong as you stick with jap cars, you should have a trouble free first car, my gf had a 1 litre micra for her first car and it was a brilliant wee car, it never gave a days bother, it was cheap to tax and insure but its not the easiest 1 litre car to run, but in saying that its not a petrol guzzler either...:D

Looking back i wish i had got a heap of **** for my first car
would have saved £1500 on scrapping my car due to a blown engine ;)
just get something cheap you can piss around in and not worry i.e road trips!

i'd say Micra is a nice alternative choice, owned one b4. really great little car, coz of the size and the weight of the car, i didnt think it was "too slow" for a 1 litre. but it had no power steering, thats a down side imo.

My first car was a corsa...Needless to say it broke down after 2 weeks of buying it..haha we all learn, I would say the micra mate, as said above cheap to insure, tax and are actually really reliable you hardly see any of them broken down on the hard shoulder ;) The Civic is my 2nd car at the moment, and since owning it there has been no faults and will hopefully not be any as I've just serviced it, Stick with jap they are very very reliable and wont let you down :) Plus I've driven a few cars..nothing beats my Civic in driving pleasure. I would choose between the micra or a civic :D

what did you mean not the easiest 1L car to run?
and thanks guys your opinions are helping ive seen a nice micra but if i do get one do you think i should have a fiddle with the engine or spend some money and exhaust sytem or a front andd back bumper lip or anything?

because i want to make it look smart :D

for mpg, a 1 litre micra is more sore on petrol than say a 1 litre suzuki swift, but dont worry, you wont need a fuel tanker following you every where :p my dad and my gf's dad work at cars and they both worked in a nissan dealers garage so this is now i no and we've compared it to a swift as well... (we got board one week ha)

micra good first car but simlar money could buy you a 1.3 non turbo starlet I had a starlet gt once kept it for two years without a singe problem at 185bhp id recomend them to anyone aso if you get the non turbo and want to keep itbuild. look a like and eventualy when you get some no claims behind you convert it to a turbo. also consider a swift gti there 1300 and can be made into litte pocket rockets its a very simar setupto a starbo

I had a civic as my first car and was surprisingly cheap to insure considering, £1280 TPFT on my own policy! IMO best affordable first car available :)

obv. if the insurance on a civic is cheap enough, u should go for it without doubt, it feels much more solid than a micra, and better looking as well.

dun bother spending money on a micra if u r getting it. just keep it tidy and clean.

I had a 106 quicksilver for my first car and just felt ****,just like a tin can!it is what it is! After 2months I made 800quid on it and bought a
Starlet Glanza - Good car! I'd go for the starlet,1.4civics are few and far between for a cheap unmodified one and any that is modified is overpriced !

Ha ha I had a purple 1.0L micra. It was pretty fun although the body roll on it when I flew round corners felt like the door handles were scraping :wow:

I have a 2000 ej9 for my 1st car mate, although I was very lucky cause it was my mums car for 5 years privious and she gave it to me for nothing :p So I saved a lot of money to buy an ej9 and insure it as your 1st car is not goin to be cheap at all mate!

thanks for all your help lads!

well i cant get insured for any car on my own!! there all over 3k! :O
the difference betwen civic insurance and micra insurance is about 40-60 quid a month somtimes 20 quid depending on the model.

but i am coming to the conclusion that my first car is going to be a rag around to get me from a to b and probably pick up a few scrapes here and there! so i think i might go for the cheapo micra or a starlet! ill just buy some nice alloys and keep them until i get my CIVIC!

but im gonna win the euro millions tonight anyway so ill probs just buy the new GT-R! :D hahaha!
