Hi all, I'm going to be updating this thread over the coming months. It's going to become the home of my ek9 build. My ek9 is currently SORN and has been replaced by a lovely peugeot 106 1.1. :((

The reason behind the "new awakening" is that I feel, my ek9 has seen better days. She has a slight two tone approach to her Championship White. Also, she was not under sealed until I purchased her. Which left her open to the elements, as well as slight bubbles of rust are appearing on the rear arch.

Here's my plan to get her back to her former glory!

Remove engine, gearbox and ancillaries - Degrease engine/box, and paint block/head/gearbox and get a refurbished cam cover.
While engine is removed, respray the whole engine bay - Championship White.
Mild wire tuck. - Headlight wires etc
Remove bumpers/skirts.
Find any parts which have rust/dents/damage and repair them.
Send the car for a full respray - Championship White.

This list will no doubt change slightly, but there is my overall plan.
I'm fairly competent with most things, mechanical/electrical, so I'm hoping I can do most of the work myself.

Updates should be coming soon when I start to strip her down!

nice looking forward to your update and one more civic on the road again woho lol

Cant wait to see this.. Always taught from the pictures your car was as mint as they came

Don't get me wrong, by most standards she's mint! But I'm **** as fook about my cars and I want her perfect. Anything less than perfect and I'll be disappointed. :)

Had a few hours on the 9 today.

Bumper/Skirts removed.
Wings removed.
Lights removed.
Front suspension out.
Drive Shafts uncoupled from hubs.

I'm hoping to drop the engine/box out tomorrow!

Ended up going mountain biking this morning, but that didn't stop be getting the engine out!

Degreased + First coat of paint.. Not looking too bad!

I took a few closer pictures of the engine bay "grime" lol.
Be warned, it could put you off your food.

looks pretty similar to how mine looked before i started attacking it. most of the rust and black stuff rubs off with ease if you use a little bit of tar and glue remover mixed with a slightly more coarse polish i.e. autoglym paint renovator. the tar and glue just makes sure any black specks come off a bit easier so you don't need to cut quite so heavily. hth

good luck

Update;

After cleaning the engine bay and giving it a damn good polishing. I've decided that the only part of the bay that needs a respray is the very front where the radiator sits! Cleaned/painted a few more parts on the engine.
Got the car outside today and gave her a clean underneath!

Sorry no pictures! (I always forget my camera)

Another weekend, another morning working on the ek.

Gearbox oil turned up!

I know the bushings are meant to be crap. Which is why if/when they ****. I will be machining my own :D

the bushings on my blox LCA's i had a few years ago lasted a few months! they were knackered. they do look the part though, and can always replace the bush anyway like you said.
