my local shell garage has changed to an esso now so no more v power unless i travel about 30 miles . jus wondering what octane shell v power is as the esso supreme is 97 i thought v power was higher .

can anyone help ?????

shell vpower is 101/2 octane ircc. use tesco super unled test have shown they are better then v power.

Has anyone used BP 102, i saw it on a pump at silverstone??

hmmm well looks like the 30mile travel to get v poweras the esso supreme we have now is only 97

I have to use 97 BP Ultimate... the only Super in the area. Car runs fine...

It will make as near as no difference to run on 97 or 99 RON

Yeah you'll probably not see any difference.
But you sure will if you use 95 in our cars (ek9 and dc2)

yeah thats wat i was worried about as i had to use 95 once when i was up north and with the spoon ecu the car did not run well at all . i had to have it drained out and filled with v power it was running that bad . so didnt want to use even 97 if v power is 99

Might be coincidence but I get slight hesitation sometimes with Tesco 99. I try and use Shell vpower all the time.

I never use 97 ron.

TBH...Ive used 95 Ron once in my car. about £15s worth and the car ran totally fine...that was with the Spoon ECU. obviously it runs better on the 99 RON but a bit of 95 here and their wont do it any damage.

My friend has run his 96 spec integra on 95 RON since he bought it (first Uk owner) and its FAST AS FCUK hahaha

V power is 99
Tesco Super is 99
BP Ultimate is 97

Might be best to carry an octane booster in the boot or glovebox incase you get caught short one day and have to use 95 :nerv:

My brother had his rally spec ek9 on the rolling road testing with, and then without, the octane booster and it actually went down by a couple BHP with it added!

I would of thought those things didn't work. If it was that easy to mix why bother with paying for higher octane fuel then :p

Think of the piece of mind though...... you put your 95 in then your £5 bottle of 'race fuel enhancer' form Halfords. An instant 17whp and a mountain of torque gained! Not to mention the lack of worry from using the 95 in the first place :D

A win win situation right there

I would disagree and say they do work. But like anything there is good and bad make/brands. I use NF octane booster which was rated highly so much so that half a bottle is more potent than using a full bottle of other known good brands. I use a half bottle of NF with full tank of 95ron petrol in my impreza sti type r and when Andy Forrest mapped it he was able to advance the timing a good bit more from what he would have mapped 95ron petrol with no octane booster so for me it was well worth using it as those extra degree's gained me 50bhp. If we had 99ron available over here I wouldn't need to use but unfortuality we don't:((
