It is your engine check light. Get your ECU read to find out what cell code is being thrown up.

Could be anything get the ecu checked and take it from there. Is the car still running ok have you noticed anything different? Has it been worked on lately?

thanks for the speedy responses guys :)

thanks for confirming the light. sounds like i'll need to get this checked

thanks for the advice mate, will definitely get it checked :)

can seems to be running fine and hasn't had any work done for a good while!

if the engine is switched off and turned back on again the light goes out i.e. it's not permanently on but it does sound a little worrying :(

It could be a sensor reading wrong, if the engine is still sounding as normal it shouldn't be much. Are you still going to tdi tommorw? If so ask them to check the ecu for you if they have time :)

i hope it's nothing too serious!

i was unsure whether to go tomorrow but thinking i should definitely go now to see it they can find the fault! *fingers crossed*

Keeps us posted. I don't think it's anything to serious. My EG went into a limp mode when a wire broke and it restricted it to 3rpm. Get it checked Honda can do that for £50 or you can do it yourself and find out what code it's throwing.

well, i went to the RR day at TDi-North and they had a quick look at it. they said that if the light very rarely came on and went off simply by turning the ignition then it's nothing to worry about too much.

i also have a bit of a grounding/ earthing issue where my speedo can jump or go to zero whilst driving so as soon as i mentioned that then they said it would more than likely be linked.

they didn't have a diagnostic machine to suit the older Hondas so couldn't check it on site.

i'm thinking i'll take it to a Honda garage next month before having a service before the winter. i'm hoping that whatever it is can resolve both the light and the speedo!

i also have a slight feeling this maybe linked to my HiD's as my car didn't seem to take them too well so may try disconnecting these at some point too.

anyway, this is the light lit up:

it's thankfully not lit up for a week now *touch wood*

My engine light has been on the last year, mines for the lamda sensor and there isn't one on my de-cat.

Wouldn't worry too much about it mate :nice:

did TDI north not have a paper clip or metal wire?

sure thats all you need to check the code.

and the codes are stored in the ecu so the light aint have to be on when checking.

Any more word on this?
Just done an engine swap and im having the exact same issue.
The light flashes on and off and my speedo dances around the clock at will ?

i've finally had a diagnosis on the car and it was fault code 17 for the vehicle speed sensor.

the looms were inspected but the speed needle continued to play around so we disconnected the speed converter and all is working fine again.

it's great to have vtec back but it's crazy having the speedo in km after mph as the needles never had so much action! haha! i will be getting a new converter as don't want the mileage to go up too much without the converter!! luckily i have a road angel to help me with knowing what speed i'm travelling at!

thanks for all the help with this guys :nice:

Hi there, its must likely the oxgen( lamda) sensor run'n rich..
Have look at the exaust look for wee bits of black suit over the bumper.
