First of all it might seem rude but

DO NOT PM ME ASKING FOR PARTS OFF MY CAR

Ok folks well i have had my 9 nearly 3 years now and for me that is very long time to keep a car but i have loved every minute of it .

After alot of hassle this year my car is currently sitting in my lock up with no engine in it as i have a b18 sitting waiting to put in as i couldnt just get rid off my car as i have spent a fortune on it as it is loaded with aftermarket parts in every corner and i mean every corner .

I recently broke an ek9 which opened my eyes and got me thinking why keep punting money into my 9 as i have allready ploughed circa £20k into it .

As much as i love the car i feel it is time to move on and after the trouble i had this year (dont ask) i just feel like i should let go and break it as i would recover the majority of my money back doing this .

This all came about today as i have been offered a cheap mk 4 astra gsi turbo to use as a daily so i can hopefully move onto something different in the summer . (an evo 8 at the moment)

Just wanted your guys input as yous know how extremely clean my car is but please take into account what i have said and dont just say dont break it for no reason .

argghhhhhhhhhhhhh decisions :angry2:

if you can afford to run the evo, why not?
i would if i was you, but id want to be in the position so i can keep my ek, and track it!

if it was me i would break it if you are looking for a new car, but from ur pictures mate keep it, it is just a amazing car and it looks like you have put sooo much hard work into it :)

KEEP IT :D

As said John, you've put alot of blood, sweat and tears into this car, not to mention money.

With the B18c in this 9, it's going to be an animal. I'd certainly wait and see once the engine is in how you feel. I've got a feeling it will put a smile on your face and you'll wonder how you could have contemplated selling. I wouldn't let the past year get you down with the motor, everyone has highs and lows with their motors..

If you got an Evo, would you be putting money into this too? If so, I'd be inclinded to keep the ek9 and get the b18 in, then see about putting some more money into it making it evo fast.

All IMO of course :)

Well I personally love the look of the nines and seen yours n it an amazing car mate but assays above if you wana move on to another car break it cos as ou said you would get more of your money back good luck either way mate

Break it and get an evo if you can afford to run one

if it was me i would put it back to standard and sell it, if i had to do anything. just think it would be a shame to strip down such a clean and rare silver 9! as others have said if you can stomach the running costs of the evo then go for it! i'm sure you know they're a hoot to drive!

aww guys this aint making it easy lol . running an evo is most deff not a problem for me or i wouldnt consider buying one if it was .

this is my pride and joy and would prob have a few tears if broke it but got to be sensible about it i guess

do you think you will get as big of a smile in a evo as you do i your pride and joy ek9. i think as said wait till the b18c6 is in it and then make the decision as it could totally change your mind :)

im kinda in the same position. i have a b18 ej that ive spent a small fortune on. i want another car( clio V6) but ive spent far more on the civic than i'd get for it so ive reached the decision NOT to sell it, and get another also. its a fantastic car to drive tho and i love it. ive also thought about turbo/k20 instead of another car but thinking its another 5-6k going into the civic. altho i'd end up with a seriously quick car. i really dont know either. glad im not the only one.

donnnnnttttt break it john :( being an evo owner and a jordan owner, there is a gulf in difference between cost between the 2! however if u can afford to run an evo and maintain the running cost go for it :) do u not fancy doing ur b18 conversion?

It's nice to try something different for awhile. I sold my EK9 and bought a STI type r impreza which I spent a ball of money on and now i'm back in my old EK9! Was hard at first moving back to a car with half the power but there totally different to drive and you appreciate each for different reasons.

are you gonna put the thread up about your hassle in summer john? would be intresting reading for sure.

if i was you id put the b18c in your car and then see how you feel after that.

x2, I think everyone was expecting great things from your build and next thing the itb's were up for sale:((

You have done well to keep the car for 3years. I've had many cars now (17) from 205 gti's/xr2's to a Gti-r, Sti V3. The way I look at it I've been lucky to have so many different cars it's good to have a change now and then. You can always buy another 9 or if funds are there keep yours and save for the evo. I have always wanted an evo and was close to buying one, but could not justify the costs. Think long and hard about it but a change can be a good thing :)

b18 it 1st john then see how you feel, you've had the car for donks and would be a shame to break it as its a fookin minter !!

hmmm im so tempted to break it but i do luv the car so will have a think over the next week or so and decide whether il put the b18 in or not
