Hiya!
New to this site. Hope to find some handy tech advice here.
Planning on buying a EK9 from Japan and building it for sprint racing (something between cross racing, rally, rally sprint and club rally).
The mods planned are short listed - planning on changing the gear ratios and final drive, LSD, and modding the suspension with reinforced elements and a set of Cusco Zero2 shocks.
If anyone has any practice performing on ice, your advice will be useful.
From what I have seen - the civic is great on ice with the use of propper tires and the correct susp set-up.
Currently own a Mazda Familia (Jap Protege).

hi and welcome!! i think you might be our first member from russia :)

welcome to ek9.org wish to you the best of luck with the ek any pics of your mazda ????? :D

Hi and welcome onboard mate! :nice: Greeks and Russians are one(that's what I feel at least) :woot:

Hello and welcome :)

I must congratulate you on your wise choice of modifications (well, what you have planned anyway), as not everyone takes this route first (most are just power power power).

The Civic is very good on the ice. We have several customers who do ice stages up in Canada :)

I figure the engine is enough in stock - 185hp is plenty for ice and twisted gravel and pavement roads. The tranny definately needs to be shorter and the suspension has to have a wide range of applications. If you can advice me coilover shocks that can be regualted by height and stiffness - it would be great to know what people use.
The mods also inculde braking - good response from the brakes is crucial on ice and gravel. I'm think of brembo mechanisms.
