Heat wrapping pros - cons?

I doubt it mate, I've never wrapped an n/a mani befor. And they go all the way under the sump so its a long way.
Best for someone else to answer that really.

No problem mate!

Anyone else know how much I will need, can get 2" x 15ft or 2" x 50ft :)

ive been getting stuff off a mate thats very good, ill check what it is exactly and let you know :)

dont get me wrong i have the ebay stuff on my manifold and it works but ive recently been using the better branded stuff and its just much easier to work with etc

Also if you've got spare you can wrap more of the exhaust, or sell the left over bits on here?

Yeah let me know mate, even drop me a pm if you can get me a price for it would be great :)

You'll need 2" x 50ft - I just about managed to do it all with 50ft, may of used a little more (I did the section that passes around the fuel tank aswell). :nice:

I think I may just lightly spray it with water not drown it but I will watch a few videos before doing this.

oh no no i didn't mean while applying it lol., I meant rain water. Mainly for the complete system though. like the B pipe. i've seen mild steel systems rot through because of rain water soaking the wrapping and just staying wet..

As this is for your manifold it should be fine.

one thing to get is decent clips to attach it. I used decent material on my mid pipe on my ek4 but the clips were cheap and i had to pay again for decent ones.

Buy cheap buy twice lol.

Aww I get what you mean now! Yeah just wrapping my manifold :p

I am going to have a look for some good clips as once it is on the car I cant be bothered havig to sort it if it become loose ! May as well make sure its done right first time.

spot on man, do it properly and do it once :D

all the best with it dude.

It won't stay wet when rainwater gets to it as the heat from the exhaust + air passing under it is more than enough to dry everything out. The only downside to wrapping things is if its a cheap manifold, the additional heat could cause it to crack. I think DC Sports manifolds can also suffer from this?

Thank you mate! No doubt I will put some pics up hopefully get a build thread up soon enough :)

I am wrapping my 98spec teg manifold so should be all good :)

my 98 spec was fine and it was wrapped for a few years.

one thing to note, I'd mate a skid plate up for the 98 spec. When the manifold hits bumps etc if the car is low you'll damage the heat wrap pretty quickly

Thanks, will look into getting one made up :nice:

Looks great! Yeah gloves and a mask is for sure a must haha! How you just make the wrap damp or soak it with water when wrapping?
