Hi guys,

I'm currently chatting to a lad about getting his EK9 in a car swap + cash his way deal. His car looks really clean and tidy (still has limiter on also) so I'm holding high hopes.

What sort of questions should I be asking outside the typical mileage, FSH type ones to avoid disappointment? I am requesting high resolution pictures from him and he has outlined some of the main faults (slight scratch on a panel, small ding on another, slightly worn bolster - typical things really).

I would hope to get an RAC type check done before confirming, but I don't want to drive across the country to be disappointing :D

EDIT: He doesn't have the import documents but has told me which importer he used!

Test the gearbox, do a change from 2nd gear to 3rd gear above 5000 RPM, thats the most common synchro that gives trouble.

Do a compression test on each cilinder, If I where you, I'll take the car to a repair shop and lift it up to see it from down under, I make sure that the car was not involved in a accident or if it's affected by underbody rust.

:)

He seems to have taken pretty good care of it with oil changes every few k and undersealing frequently. It's only been in the country for a year as well.

The main issue with it is trying to get all that sorted when I will be away from home to collect it. Is there any way to check for crash damage etc easily? I have a mechanic up here to check it out so it's looking like I may have to drag him along.

Check the gap, between the wheel/tire and the fender on both sides! thats what I do!

Also Check down where the spare wheel does be for any signs of rear damage and check gaps between wings and doors and bonnet (hood)..They should all be even if the car has had no damage

Does look nice, however im not sure id trust a rolling road graph from a place who cant even be bothered to strap the car down on the rollers

It was strapped down before the actual run took place.

And just before my car went on a completely standard v.low milage (30000 I think) UK Civic EK4 Vti did a run and produced 158 Hp. Correct me if Im wrong but that is bang on spec.
