Hi there,

After alot of reading on this beutifull forum i decided to go the b18 route for my EK9.
I have a professional company doing the swap here in the netherlands.

I'm still left with a few questions. They al come back to one point:

Which parts can i keep, and which can better be swapped?

(aspecialy driveshafts. Do ITR shafts fit, and am i better of with them?)

Keep your own driveshafts as already said. You could also keep your S4C gearbox. You will need to re-use your engine loom and mounts. If your EK9 is a facelift 99-00 you will need a obd2b-obd2a conversion harness to work with the P73 integra type r ecu

Ok thanks, won't the itr shafts fit? Are they the same or are they different but it doesn't matter?

And other stuff?

I have a '00 Rx. So i will need the conversion harness...
Sorry but my english is real poor. Do i understand correctly that loom is the wireing?

And if i'm using the Hondata i already have? do i still need the conversion harness then?

This is a mistery to me. When you have a itr, the whole car is OBD2a. But if you use the OBD2b wireing of the ek9, then you only need a harness. My question is, why does The ITR engine, which was originaly equiped with the OBD2a wireing, work with the OBD2 wireing?

So your currently using a hondata ecu in your car? And you are going to have this remapped for b18c engine? If answer is yes then you do not need obd2b-obd2a conversion loom. You must use your EK9 engine wiring loom as the integra obd2a engine wiring loom does not go straight to ecu it connects to plugs on the shock tower. The EK9 is a one part engine loom that goes direct to the ecu. With regards to using the integra driveshafts, yes you can use them providing there not from a 98spec+ ITR as there 36mm not 32mm which your EK9 hubs take. There is no advantage of using ITR shafts over EK9.

Your english is fine mate!:nice:

Yes the "loom" is the wireing!

If you are running Hondata already then no you dont need the conversion harness, you will just need to remap your Hondata to run the B18 as im sure you already know!:))

The wireing on your Ek9 will work Fine on the B18, it is just plug & play!:nice:
The reason they have said you need a conversion harness is because your EK9 run's on a OBD2b ECU & the ITR run's on the OBD2a, which is were you would nees a conversion harness!
But as your running Hondata there is no need, just remap to run the B18!

Hope this has answered your questions!:nice:

EDIT
was a little slow @ typing there!

WOW,

Thanks for the great answers. I'm also getting helped by the master of hondata tuning (Will :)) ) It's currently out of working order, but i have good hopes that Hondata helps me out with the little problem.

I'm getting the 98 spec so the driveshafts wont fit. But as you say, they won't help it being a better car, so no need to interchange them.

I realy am curious (do'nt know if i spelled it right) about the outcome of the swap. If I understand you guys right it's a lot different than the B16B...

I'm happy I bought the B18 Toda header in stead of the b16. I think i always knew i was going to swap.

I alsso have the mugen airbox. I know it will fit, but the DC2 type is a different model. Would that affect performance in any way?

Your in good hands with Will looking after the tuning for you:win:

The reason they have a different model for dc2 is the chassis is different and where it fits in place and bolts up is different to the fitment in of a EK chassis. Performance wise you should still see gains using this on the b18c.

I also have the Mugen Twinloop. This is, offcourse, also a EK9 model.

Is it wise to get, atleast, a bigger B-pipe? I heard this one is pretty restrictive?
If zo, which one would be a good one?

AFAIK the B pipe is 2.36" diameter, which isnt bad perhaps with the b18c you would benefit from something a little bigger. You could probably just get a custom middle section made for it.

Sorry but, what does afaik mean :)

As Far As I Know (voor zover ik weet)

Good time to clean the engine bay if it needs doing while you have the b16b out:nice:

That's a good tip. I will do yhat and put a gut sealant in there also.
I hope it is going to be what i expect. I see alot of happy people on here. I hope i wil be :)

Ok,

I just heard they found a nice B18 with under 60K km for y car so it is on it's way. It will be there end september.

I forgot to say in previous posts that timingbelt and intake gasket is being changed out with bnew ones. Intake gasket offcourse Hondata. Anyone experienced the hondata IMFG? If so, how did it work out?

I chose to take the ITR gearbox because i think the gears fit my driving better.

I read alot about it, but maybe someone who did the swap can try to tell about the difference in feel when swapped to B18C from B16B. I realy am very curious!

I bought the JDM B18C 98 spec. Can i map it with the stock ITR map delivered with the Hondata software? Or is this US spec mapping?

Thanks!
