following my previous post about this i fitted a new lambda sensor to my ek4 which solved the smoking issue but it has not improved my fuel consumpsion at all, im struggling to see 100miles to 20quids worth of v power no matter how i drive

its dropping as low as 50- 60miles-20quid if i use a fair bit of vtec(worst iv seen was 43miles to 20quid and it was cutting out in vtec due to lack of fuel) and no matter how gentle i am with my foot i cannot get more than 100-110miles out of 20quid(used to get about 130-140 no matter how i drove)i understand 25mpg aint to bad on a back road/town driving but it does not even improve on the motorway(average of 25mpg on a run to manchester and back at a steady 70mph)from ayrshire in scotland 500mile round trip

No codes are being shown and i reset the ecu by removing the fuse and disconnecting battery overnight after fitting the lambda sensor ,car gets oil and filter every 3k(mobil1 and a hamp)and has done since new(its on 145k) and a fuel filter every 10k burns a little oil(500ml per 1kmiles)car has an unbranded 4-1 oem vti centre section, custom stainless backbox and oem intake with resonators removed from wing so nothing wild.

due selling the ****ing thing and buying a golf gt tdi 150

please help

due going mental as its costing me a fortune to run it to work as its my dailly motor

Try changing the ECT sensor to another one, there cheap enough second hand may also be worth trying normal petrol rather than the vpower and see how the fuel economy is.

I would stick another thermostat in it takes about 10 minutes costs about £16. The temperature gauge is pretty vague to be honest mine showed all was ok but thermostat was completely shot when I took it out. The car over fuels as its not getting up to temp. Worth a try.

well if this makes you feel any better im getting 200miles for £42 n 260mile when i drive really sloww

Check wheel bearings, had this issue, the excessive power needed to overcome the friction of the bad wheel bearings had me down 5mpg.
