No real difference looks wise between the ek4 and ej9, just the engine.

Try and find a low mileage, 1 lady owner type car that has be well looked after. You won't go wrong with one of them. and probably easier to stick to the 1.4 insurance wise.

yes old lady is the best bet, I made the mistake of getting a ringer, just because my eg6 insurance was a joke at 18, I had no choice but to downgrade to a ej9, mind you petrol economy is amazing, just bites not having vtec. my first quote for my car was 2k, almost 2 years later still 2k haha but its only because I declared my mods. I hated my ej9 at first, but once the JDM bug hits you change your tone, and my car is miles better than what it was before. and once you have the cash conversions could be a possibility, I plan on having vtec soon.

i had a eg 1.3 dx for my first car loved it thought it was really nippy and good fun

you should either look into them or ej9s will be alot cheaper on insurance!

ej9 for a first cars an ideal choice. they will be faster than all ur mates corsas an saxos etc plus thers endless upgrades to be done!

if your buyin 1 make sure thers little rust on it, smooth gear changes and that its not burnig oil etc

thanks, yeah my mates want 106's and saxos, its terrible haha

hopefully if i can afford one i'll be burning em up haha

and yeah i've read about the dodgy 3rd gear with civics and the oil burning habit, ill look out for it

I've got a 2000 Honda Civic 1.4 for my 1st car and my insurance still cost about £1600 and that me been driving nearly a year, great car though i got it from my mum who has had it for 6years. You can add plenty mods to make them great before you eventually get yourself a V-Tec, i aim to get myself one next year
