Finally got my VSM EK9 back !

Well not been a good week for the ek9.

Car started mis-firing on way to course. Thought it was a ht lead, whilst fault diagnosing I managed to bugger up the dizzy as well as another ht lead.

Replacement ones ordered from another member, day they arrive I get them fitted. Still not firing properly.

Buy some replacement spark plugs to rule them out and it's still missing. Starting to think its the head gasket. Unplugged injectors 2/3 no change in engine note, coolant pipes are very hard to squeeze when engine is running. Oil is an ok color, as is the coolant.

Going to pick up a compression tester after course tomorrow to try and get some decent readings. Only the second time the car has broken down in 214,000kms and it had to be when I'm in Portsmouth.

Yeah trying not to get too down about it. Gutted being this far away from my workshop and having to rely on lifts every day.

Decided I'm just going to fix the problem and not spend extra money buying shiny bits ha ha. Will probably get arp head studs and an oem head gasket ordered up soon.

Oh man, was def not a good week for VSM civics! If theres anything i can do to help, just give me a shout dude.

Will do mate cheers, whatever happens I'll have it up in my work next Thursday to get started on things. All goes well should be back together long before the next meet.

aw crap sorry to hear that david! hope you get it sorted soon man!

If you need an extra pair of hands, just give me a shout when you're back :nice:

Aww man not good at all, when I opened the thread I thought "what's he bought now" haha didn't expect this, sure you will have it sorted in no time, if you need a hand just fire me a txt :)

Well compression test showed 250psi accross all cylinders. Getting a good spark, power to the injectors so that only really leaves the injectors to check.

Hoping my mate lets me test his on my engine to get to the bottom of this fault.

Cheers for the offer Dean, with any luck it's back up and running this weekend.

Well that's the car running normal again. Also realized the AA guy had put the ht leads back on wrong way round, so when I went to fit the new ones, I used the old ones as a guide.

All I needed was a new ht lead and one working injector, by the looks of it I have a spare dizzy sitting and a possibly repairable ht lead as well.

Got a few shiny bits fitted recently, hated seeing a rusty arb so sanded it back to metal and gave it a few coats of hammerite to go with my new lca's.

Trying to curb the spending on the car now as I'm hoping to get it mapped before April then into get the paintwork sorted for the summer.

Next up is a massive detailing session after a few thousand motorway miles has left me with a huge coating of road muck.

Re-done my rocker cover crinkle black as it had a chip in it. Just need to polish the lettering up.
