I have a fair bit done to my car now and i'm struggling to catch grip in first gear. second and third gear find it hard to catch grip when its wet out. i live in ireland so the weather is a big factor. should i even bother with a final drive if it increases accelartion and i already can't catch grip??????

Yep, it's a great mod, by far it was the best one I did, if you want more grip, you should upgrade your LSD,cusco 1.5 way should solve your "grip problems" also some better tires, cheers mate :)

do you have good tires? work on your traction issue before getting the FD :nice:

Get some grippier tires first. Then if you feel you still have problems, try a better LSD like RVM said. Coilovers with stiffer rear springs (common race setups have like 12k front, 14k rear, with a typical street setup having 10k front, 8k rear) will help with weight transfer going to the back, leaving more grip for the front tires.
And you can always focus on mods that make the car faster without compromising your grip during acceleration. I'm assuming your not building your car for drag racing right?

i have pirelli p5000 on it at the moment. they were a hundred euro each. i'm thinkin i might try michellin pilots next. i remember on two wheels there were the best ya could get. i'm on 4 wheels now 2 years. the front of my car is well lowerr than the back as it is. i'll post pictures soon enough. i'm buildin the car more for drag racin but will be goin on the track in feb with it. the same for the drag racin. the next events are in feb nad i want my traction sorted before then!!

toyo proxies r888 are road legal cut slicks, 120 euro a peice fitted, the best tyre ive ever used for grip, them or yokohama a048's..... the fd is best bang for buck...

def go with it.

p5000 sux as tyre for an fast jap, try em under a peugeot!

Something like Uniroyal rainsport, pirelli pzeronero, yokohama parada spec2 is better for daily and sporty driving. Using the pzero's for my own, got an set of rims/tyres spare of an dc2 with toyo r888, and advan RG with the pzero

trust me you will not regret the final drive i have a spoon 4.7 final drive and the cusco lsd on my ek definately worth the spend:nice:

back to the topic; a nicely setup gear ratios with shorter FD is ultimate and can give maximum acelleration.

If you open your tranny, might as well do a bit more.
